The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 329

Chapter 329

Silas’s eyes were pitch-black, swirling with an unfathomable depth that completely blocked her out. He stared at her face for a long moment before replying in a flat voice, “Isn’t that what they call reaping what you sow?”

“I drugged you, sure, but fighting fire with fire isn’t exactly the high road.”

“It’s called giving someone a taste of their own medicine.”

“Fine.” Vivian pressed her pale lips together, her voice incredibly weak. “My mistake. But Silas…”

“I get scared too.”

Those few words lacked any dramatic flair, but they were perhaps the most honest thing she had

ever said.

If asked before today, Silas wouldn’t have been able to picture what Vivian actually looked like when she was terrified.

“Come up here and sleep with me,” Vivian murmured, shifting over slightly to make room for him.

Silas hesitated for a second before pulling back the covers and climbing in.

Before he could even settle, her soft body pressed firmly against his side, wrapping her arms around his waist. It was a gesture of absolute dependency.

Through the thin fabric of their clothes, their body heat transferred back and forth, surprisingly warm.

Normally, she would have started running her hands everywhere by now.

But not tonight.

She just held onto his waist quietly and closed her eyes. Her small face was deathly pale, looking like a delicate flower that had been ravaged by a bitter frost.

Silas frowned. He reached out and tucked the messy strands of hair behind her ear, fully exposing her delicate features. Her left cheek was still slightly swollen, bearing the undeniable mark of a heavy blow.

“What exactly did he do to you? Tell me.”

“He touched me.”

Vivian’s voice was whisper-thin. Just talking about it made her press even closer to Silas’s chest. “He told me you could never like me, and that giving in to him was my best option.”

“I refused, so he hit me. Everything still hurts. He did it all. And…”

Vivian took a deep, shaky breath.

“He tore off my clothes. He saw everything.”

A long time passed.

“Go to sleep,” he finally said.

Vivian was genuinely exhausted. Pillowed against his chest, it didn’t take long for her to drift off.

The closer it got to dawn, the darker the sky seemed to turn.

The hospital was so quiet it felt completely abandoned.

Harrison was still locked in the room downstairs. As the clock neared 6:00 AM, the security guards stationed in the hallway suddenly vanished. The door opened. Someone walked in, and then walked out.

As the footsteps faded into the distance, Harrison’s bloodcurdling screams ripped through the walls, growing sharper and clearer.

Early the next morning, Simon arrived with a grim expression to deliver the report.

“Mr. Sterling, something happened to Harrison Fowler last night. He survived the emergency surgery, but he’s been completely mutilated.”

He would never be a man again.

Even Simon winced in phantom pain just relaying the news.
