The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 247

Chapter 247

Zoe couldn’t hold back and let out a string of curses.

“That Grace Gifford! And to think she’s supposed to be a celebrity. How can she do something so underhanded?”

“Being a celebrity is just a job. Don’t look at any profession through rose-tinted glasses,” Vivian said as she stepped into the bathroom, casually tossing her phone onto the vanity. “Anyway, it never hurts to be careful. Have someone keep an eye on them.”

“Understood.”

Zoe quickly gave a brief run-down of her work before hanging up.

Vivian was about to jump into the shower when an unread text message suddenly caught her attention. She stared at the unknown number at the top of the screen, furrowing her brows slightly. She paused for a long time before finally stepping into the shower cubicle.

Half an hour later.

When Silas came out, there was already a lump bundled under the covers on the bed.

She was curled up slightly, lying on her side completely motionless, seemingly fast asleep.

Silas’s gaze darkened slightly as he walked to the other side and lifted the blanket.

The moment he lay down, the woman rolled straight into his arms.

“Go to sleep. If you move around again, get the hell out.”

Vivian mumbled in agreement, but her hand had already slipped under the hem of his pajama shirt. The perfectly sculpted abs felt exceptionally good to the touch.

Silas originally intended to ignore her, but the woman only grew bolder. Her fingers traced the edge of his lounge pants, as soft and light as a feather, sending a tingling numbness spreading across his

skin.

Then, she tugged at his waistband.

“Vivian…”

“Vivian, you…”

Before he could finish, Vivian cut him off, mimicking his exact tone and choice of words. Her lower hand let go, wrapping around his waist instead.

Silas looked down just as she tilted her head up to look at him.

Their eyes met.

She played the delicate, coquettish little woman flawlessly. Her eyes seemed to hold a thousand words, so soft they could practically drip water.

She flashed a brilliant smile, radiating boundless charm in an instant.

“I have my limits. Were you about to yell at me again?”

Chapter 247

“…” Silas fell silent, exhaling heavily.

“Don’t be so mean all the time. You’re such a handsome husband, but the moment you get mad, you’re not handsome anymore.”

He glared down at her, and she immediately corrected herself. “You’re handsome, you’re handsome. You’re always handsome.”

“…Vivian.”

Exasperated beyond belief, Silas gritted his teeth. “Can’t you sleep without being provocative?”

“Not really. Who told you to find me so annoying?” Vivian said with utmost sincerity, even letting out a helpless sigh. “I know I’m not perfect, but everyone outside says I’m gorgeous. The problem is, you don’t even look at me to see if I’m beautiful or not. You just think I’m annoying.”

“You know I find you annoying, yet you still throw yourself at me?”

“Well, doesn’t that just mean I have to try harder?”

Vivian looked intently at his face. She raised her hand, gently tracing his sharp brows, the high bridge of his nose, his sexy lips, and his flawless jawline.

“I’ve always had this bad habit. I don’t care if forcing something ruins it; I just have to take it for myself. Besides, I like you so much. I can’t just stand by and watch you be with someone else. No, I couldn’t handle that.”

The man’s pitch-black eyes were like a bottomless abyss, impossible to read.

No one knew what he was thinking.

A long moment passed.

Vivian’s soft, white fingertips lingered around the edge of his lips, carrying the faint, soothing scent of her body wash. She swallowed lightly and asked softly, “Do you… really not want it?”
