Chapter 246
The man closed his eyes, looking completely unwilling to entertain her.
Vivian didn’t get angry. Her beautiful eyes darted around mischievously. It didn’t take long before she couldn’t hold back anymore, leaning over to drape herself over his shoulder. “What did Geoffrey tell you just now?”
He ignored her.
“I feel like that old fox is up to no good. Trying to buy Astra Media-he must be blinded by his own daughter’s stupidity, right? He didn’t even look at his own standing to dare speak so arrogantly.”
The man still didn’t speak, though his closed eyelids twitched slightly.
Vivian stared at him for a long time, then deliberately blew a puff of air onto his face.
“Are you asking for a death wish?”
“No, I’m just checking if you’re dead yet.”
Vivian’s eyes curved into a brilliant smile. Her gaze rippled with light, reflecting only him. “I misunderstood you earlier. I’m sorry.”
Silas stared at the face hovering inches from his own, his eyes dark and unfathomable.
“Misunderstood me about what?”
“I thought you were going to sell me out.”
“Drop the ‘thought.”
The man scoffed, subtly shifting his arm away to draw a clear line between them. “We just couldn’t agree on the price. With your meager weight, you wouldn’t sell for much anyway. Too much hassle.”
Vivian blinked, taking half a second to process that.
“Did you just call me a pig?”
Who measured a person’s worth by their weight?
Silas remained silent, a tacit admission. The corners of his perfectly sculpted lips curved upward ever so slightly, so fast it felt like a hallucination.
Vivian fumed silently for a while, but she never had any real power over this man. All she could do was glare at him with the fiercest expression she could muster.
They made it back to the villa in this bizarre, muddled state.
She couldn’t use her previous trick, or he definitely would ignore her.
Vivian licked her red lips. She waited for him to take two steps forward, then backed up… backed up
some more.

Chapter 246
With a running start, she leaped right onto his back.
Silas reflexively reached back and caught her, taking two full seconds to register what had just happened.
“Vivian… damn it!”
The woman wrapped her arms tightly around his neck, whispering sweet and coquettish words into his ear. “I’m so tired. Carry me inside. I’ll be your eyes.”
[I’ll be your eyes.]
Even though Silas could see perfectly fine most of the time now, those five words still acted like an anesthetic needle, violently piercing a raw nerve and sending a jolt of numbness through his entire body.
From Vivian’s angle, she had a clear view of his flawless jawline tensing fiercely before finally
relaxing.
It was an almost self-destructive kind of surrender.
He simply carried her on his back, taking long strides into the villa.
Up the stairs.
“Get off!”
“Oh…”
She jumped down and rolled her shoulders. Truthfully, just clinging to his neck had been exhausting enough. She had no idea why young couples loved playing this game so much.
Silas didn’t want to say a single word to her. He raised his hands to unbutton his shirt.
He walked toward the bathroom.
Vivian stared at his broad back and smiled.
Suddenly remembering something, her smile cooled slightly as she picked up her phone.
Zoe Hunt had sent several messages, none of which were particularly urgent. Vivian bypassed them and called her directly.
“Miss Fairchild.”
“Keep a close eye on the Gifford family’s movements lately. That old fox might try something.”
“Old… fox?”
Zoe was confused. “Which one do you mean?”
Vivian glanced toward the bathroom, turned, and walked into another room. She put the phone on speaker, undressing while recounting the details of the acquisition attempt.
“Grace Gifford was right about one thing. The Gifford family has been entrenched in Northside for a century. Causing trouble for Astra Media would be as easy as breathing for them. We need to be
