The Stand-In Who Burned the Script novel Chapter 165

Chapter 165

The remark didn’t just drain the color from Richard’s face; it made Grace’s eyes widen in

shock.

Her cousin was the one lying in a hospital bed. How could Silas say something like that? And right in front of Vivian!

“Silas, what do you mean by that?”

She glared at the woman standing idly by. Did Vivian really think hiding behind a man would absolve her of everything?

“I called you here to help me fix this, not to side with a suspect and make things worse! Harry is still unconscious. Do you really think we’re just going to let this slide? There are very few people in all of Northside who could intimidate the Fowler and Gifford families!”

Her tone was harsh enough that even Richard felt compelled to gently pull her back.

He shot her a warning look. “Grace, watch your tone.”

It was true that the Fowlers and Giffords feared very few people, but the man standing right in front of them was definitely one of them.

Silas’s gaze drifted carelessly over Grace, his voice devoid of any real emotion. “I understand Miss Gifford is feeling emotional. I don’t mind.”

*I understand. I don’t mind.*

*Wow, how incredibly accommodating of him.**

Vivian scoffed inwardly. In all the days she had dealt with this man, she had never once seen him show anyone an ounce of mercy.

“However, since you already know Harry was the aggressor, your best option is to take the loss quietly. Blowing this up won’t do you any favors.”

Silas articulated every word, his detached expression making him seem entirely untouchable under the harsh fluorescent lights.

“But…”

Richard furrowed his brow, stunned by the advice.

“What are you getting at?”

“You know perfectly well, Richard, that Harry’s line of work puts him under a microscope. The media tracks his every move. If I’m not mistaken, there have been plenty of rumors about him harassing models and actresses before, but the Fowler family always managed to bury

the stories.”

Chapter 165

Silas rubbed his fingers together, his dark eyes radiating absolute control. “If you make a scene out of this, his past scandals will inevitably be dragged into the spotlight. It won’t just ruin Harry… I imagine the resulting fallout would be devastating for the Fowler family as

well.”

As his words hung in the air, a heavy silence fell over the corridor.

Grace pressed her lips tight, desperately fighting to keep her emotions in check.

Her eyes were red. She stared unblinking at the couple standing across from her. Silas had just said all of that purely to protect this woman… They had only known each other for a few days! How could he go to such extreme lengths for her?

After a long moment.

Grace took a deep breath.

“Silas,” she said coldly. “Are you saying we should just walk away from this?”

“That’s simply my advice, not a demand,” Silas replied calmly.

“If Miss Gifford insists on digging further, or calling the police, that is your family’s business.”

With that sentence, Grace completely understood what he meant.

If Vivian hadn’t been involved, he probably wouldn’t have even bothered showing up!

“Enough! Silas is just looking out for us.” Richard fixed Silas with a sharp gaze. He was a veteran in the corporate world and had lived a long time. He could tell something was off, and this behavior was highly out of character for Silas.

“But Silas, he’s my only son. I can’t just let him get beaten to a pulp for no reason, I still need to look into this. Once I find out who laid their hands on him…”

Richard scoffed coldly, his threat crystal clear.

Before he could say another word, his phone rang, and he stepped into the hospital room to

take the call.

Grace finally released her bitten lip. She shot Vivian a dirty look before turning to Silas, softening her voice. “Silas, how much longer are you going to keep freezing me out? That day…”
