Leonard locked eyes with her, his gaze piercing. "Tell me the truth right now. Have you and Mia been targeting Nora?"

Cynthia hesitated for a fraction of a second. She had been so consumed with taking care of Mia lately that she hadn't had the time to plot any revenge against Nora, even though she desperately wanted to. If he was just asking about her, she could deny it instantly.

But he was asking about both of them, and Cynthia honestly couldn't guarantee Mia was innocent. She knew her daughter too well. After the massive humiliation she suffered because of Nora, Mia was exactly the type to seek violent retribution.

Seeing her hesitate, Leonard knew all he needed to know.

"Mia is out of her damn mind! Does she even realize what she's doing?"

A flicker of doubt crossed Leonard's face. "But the police called me directly..."

He trusted the police more than his wife. Moreover, he knew Nora's personality. She wouldn't just throw Mia's name around without cause. That meant Mia had definitely slipped up and left a trail.
