The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 616

Nora stared at him in utter disbelief.

"You're seriously worried about that?"

Nathan crossed his arms, raising an eyebrow in mild offense. "What kind of man do you think I am?"

These were their wedding clothes. If anyone on earth was looking forward to this wedding more than Nora, it was undoubtedly Nathan. He had been dreaming about this day so intensely that it haunted his sleep.

Did she really think he would risk ruining the dress? He was practically praying there wouldn't be a single wrinkle on the fabric. He needed every detail of this day to be absolute perfection.

"Well..."

Under his intense, accusatory stare, Nora awkwardly rubbed the bridge of her nose. "I just thought you were the type who didn't care about the formalities."

Nathan really didn't seem like the kind of guy to get hung up on minor details.

His gaze softened dramatically as he looked down at her.

"I can overlook anything else."

"But this is for our wedding."

Nathan reached out, his fingers gently brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear.

"Nora, we are going to have the perfect wedding."

"A wedding you'll look back on years from now, and just the memory of it will make you smile."

She wanted to smile right now.

But before the corners of her lips could fully lift, her phone began to ring.

Seeing the perfect moment shatter, Nathan let out a resigned sigh. "I strongly suggest we mute all our devices on the wedding day."

Nora dug into her purse, which Valerie had left behind, shooting Nathan a side-eye. "You say that now, but when the time comes, you'll be the one refusing to put it on silent."

They both knew that if a serious case broke on their wedding day, nobody at the precinct would dare bother them. But if they did reach out, both of them would undoubtedly pause the wedding to handle it.

"Don't say that!"
