The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 593

"It's beyond insane," Nathan said, his expression darkening. "I heard rumors about this kind of ring back in the Arvendale Region, but I never saw any cases after transferring to Luminport City, so I brushed it off. Turns out, it's not that it doesn't exist here—it just hasn't been exposed."

The color drained from everyone’s faces, quickly replaced by furious red.

Humanity really was terrifying. Patients were already suffering, yet someone was lurking in the shadows, exploiting their most vulnerable moments for sick entertainment. They were treating these patients like a harvest. If they needed fresh content, any patient could suddenly become a victim.

"I'll contact Mr. Adams immediately," one of the cops said, making the executive decision without needing Nathan's prompt.

While the blood-spraying showerhead might have just been a malicious prank, the underlying implications were horrifying. They needed to escalate this up the chain of command to authorize a full-scale investigation.

"Press that cleaner for more information," Nathan ordered. "If she was this comfortable doing it, it wasn’t her first time. See what else she knows."

The officers agreed and dispersed to follow up on the leads.

Meanwhile, the hospital administration had hastily relocated Nathan and Nora to a new room. As a gesture of extreme apology, they upgraded them to a luxury VIP suite. Before leaving, the cops swept the room for devices to ensure it was completely safe.

The hospital staff apologized profusely and only left after Nathan and Nora assured them they wouldn't press charges against the facility.

On the phone, Valerie listened to how everything was handled and huffed in indignation. "This is a disaster. I don't even know if I should tell Mr. Peyton."

Valerie had wanted to rush to the hospital the second she heard the news, but visiting hours were over. Plus, with the recent attacks, security was tight. Not wanting to be a burden to Nora and Nathan, she had opted to fret over the phone instead.

"Don't tell Grandpa yet," Nora said. There was no point in hiding it forever, but Harold Peyton had left the hospital in such a good mood. Dropping this bomb on him now would only give the old man unnecessary stress.
