The Captain I Married by Chance novel Chapter 592

"There are cameras in the hospital corridors," the officer continued. "It's highly unlikely the device was planted days ago. It had to be installed after Mr. Peyton checked in."

"The culprit could only have done it today," Nathan added.

When the police asked for clarification, Nathan explained that they had washed up last night without any issues.

"Did you leave the room at all today, Mr. Peyton?"

Nathan nodded. "Around eleven this morning."

Nora did the math. That was right around the time she had gone out to grab food.

"Why did you leave the room?" Nora asked, turning to glare at him.

Nathan looked slightly guilty. The doctor had strictly ordered bed rest for the next few days. But Nathan was restless by nature. The second Nora left and there was no one to keep him in check, he had gone downstairs for a stroll.

Nora shot him a withering look. The man who had radiated pure intimidation just moments ago suddenly shrank back, looking as meek as a scolded puppy.

If the setting hadn't been so serious, the cops might have burst out laughing. Who would have thought the fearless, legendary detective Nathan Peyton would turn to jelly in front of his fiancée? They all made a mental note to broadcast this hilarious detail to the entire precinct once the case was closed.

Blissfully unaware of how much his reputation was tanking, Nathan offered Nora a placating smile. "I'll explain everything later, I promise. I swear I didn't go far, and I definitely wasn't going to hurt myself."
