Nora raised an eyebrow. "Are you suspecting that they used this website to communicate with the deceased?"
"Yes."
Nora found the theory completely reasonable. She nodded. "I'll contact the precinct right away."
Seeing how quickly the two of them had narrowed down a solid lead with just a few sentences, Julia Ryland's eyes filled with sheer admiration.
Valerie Cruz, on the other hand, clicked her tongue from the sidelines.
"You two are working this hard even on your time off. If I were your boss, I wouldn't be able to stop grinning."
Julia laughed. "No doubt about that. Mr. Adams absolutely adores Dr. Hayes and Captain Peyton."
Valerie shook her head. "I just hope no more cases pop up when you go wedding dress shopping or during the actual ceremony. Knowing how you two are wired, you'd completely forget you were supposed to be getting married."
Julia's expression shifted drastically. She quickly grabbed Valerie and pantomimed spitting over her shoulder to ward off the jinx.
"Don't say that! Don't even put it out there!"
"You can't joke about things like that."
It was the ultimate unspoken rule, just like how hospital staff never dared to say, 'It's so quiet tonight.'
Some superstitions were simply undeniable.
Valerie realized her mistake and quickly mimicked the anti-jinx gesture. "Just pretend I never said anything."
Nora gave a helpless smile at their dramatic reactions. "It's not as terrifying as you're making it out to be."
"We aren't the only ones in the department. If a case drops, someone else will handle it."
There was no way the force would make them abandon their own wedding for a case.
"That's true."
As someone on the force, Julia knew the protocols better than anyone.
Hearing Nora's reassurance, she sighed softly. "But everyone knows that since Captain Peyton transferred here, our closure rate has gone through the roof. It's gotten to the point where the Special Task Force is everyone's first thought the second a major case lands."
"Looks like we'll be reuniting in the Arvendale Region!"
Nora hadn't been informed of this yet and asked with genuine pleasant surprise, "Really?"
"Of course! Though I won't be on camera as a guest. I'll be working behind the scenes to help out."
After all, this was the network's first time producing a program like this. They needed a few veteran hosts on set to manage the flow and prevent any disasters.
Valerie's professional expertise was top-tier; having her there was exactly what everyone wanted.
"That's fantastic. It'll be a relief having a familiar face there to show me the ropes."
Truth be told, the thought of going on television made Nora incredibly anxious.
She thought having Nathan by her side would make it easier.
But given her fiancé's recent behavior, Nora concluded that she was much better off relying on herself than trusting him in front of a live audience.
