Realizing he had become completely invisible, Nathan let out a helpless chuckle and pulled out his phone to kill time.

When Harold's Assistant knocked and reminded him about an upcoming lunch meeting, Nora finally noticed that Nathan had been glued to his phone, completely checked out of their conversation.

Taking advantage of Harold speaking with his assistant, she leaned in close. "What are you looking at?"

He cast her a sidelong glance. "Does it matter?"

Nora blinked.

"Are you upset? Why?"

She was highly attuned to his moods.

A faint smirk touched his lips. "You just spent twenty minutes talking to Grandpa, and you didn't look at me once."

"Dr. Hayes, when are you going to start giving me a little special treatment?"

Nora stared at him.

"How much more special do you want?"

She was literally marrying the guy. Wasn't that special enough?

As if reading her mind, he answered bluntly, "Not special enough."

"If I had it my way, I'd be the only thing on your mind and the only thing you ever looked at."

His intense, unapologetic possessiveness caught her off guard.

She assumed he was joking, but when she met his gaze, his eyes were dead serious.

He actually meant it!

She opened her mouth to tell him he was being ridiculous.

But the words died in her throat.

"I'll try."

If it weren't for the fact that beneath all that dominance was a fierce, unwavering devotion...

He wouldn't have waited for her all these years.

He had planned every move, calculated every step, just to finally have her.

Nodding obediently, he hooked his pinky around hers. "We haven't picked out our rings yet. Do you have any preferences?"

She shook her head. "I don't really wear rings..."

"Then how about we string it on a necklace?" he suggested.

"We need something visible to prove we're married. It's not like I can plaster our marriage license to my forehead."

He paused, a sudden, terrible inspiration lighting up his face.

"Actually, that's not a bad idea. I could just print out copies and pin them to my shirts."

Nora stared in horror.

Did getting married turn all men into absolute children?

"We are buying rings and putting them on a necklace!"

If he actually started parading around with copies of their marriage license pinned to his chest, she would literally have to move to a different country out of sheer humiliation.
