The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 309

Chapter 309

My heart squeezed painfully in my chest; I had so many questions… I wanted to know how she was here, or how I

was here.

I glanced back at Lora.

“My wolf…” I whispered.

My mother stepped even closer, holding her hand out for me to take. I stared at it for a moment before I took it feeling her warmth rapidly spread throughout me. I let her pull me to my feet, surprised that there was still no pain.

“Lora will be okay,” she assured me. “She’s only resting. She’s had it tough as well… she’s taking her mate’s silence as a rejection… but it’s not a rejection… It’s a curse.”

I frowned as I looked up at her.

“What are you talking about?”

She gave me a sad smile.

“Come with me.”

She turned and started to walk through the field of white flowers. I followed closely behind her, my eyes shifting to Lora one last time, and when I saw her chest finally moving, I let out the breath I hadn’t known I was holding.

She was alive. And telling from the fluttering I could feel in my belly… so was my baby. That was all I cared about right now; everything can wait.

The sounds of a distant creak could be heard, and my mother headed in that direction.

“Where are you taking me?” I asked her.

She didn’t reply; she only walked. She walked with purpose, and yet her movements were slow, giving me time to soak in the surroundings. There were so many flowers, and in the distance, I could see different colors. It was all so breathtaking; I also realized I wasn’t wearing any shoes, so the stems of the flowers dug into the soft soles of my feet. But it didn’t hurt; if anything, it felt like I was walking in the clouds.

Once we reached the creak, my mother knelt and ran her fingers through the cold waters. I knelt beside her without her having to ask, and I watched as the water rippled from her touch.

When an image started to take place, I sucked in a sharp breath.

A woman came into view; she was familiar-looking, with her sleek blonde curls and her picture-perfect face. She was beautiful, and yet she looked so broken at the same time. She was holding, and it wasn’t until she shifted that I could see a small baby in her arms.

She was standing in front of another woman, an older one, who only looked at her with pity.

“Please,” the woman cried, holding her baby close to her chest. “There has to be something you could do. How could he possibly be an Alpha King without his wolf?”

I sucked in a sharp breath, my gaze snapping to my mother. She kept her eyes fixed on the water images, a sorrowful expression on her face.

“I’ve already told you,” The older woman said, shaking her head. “The prophecy was clear… the curse will be broken one day once he finds his mate. Then he will reconnect with his wolf once again. Until then, there’s

nothing I can do. The only other person who can break the curse is the one who cast it in the first place, and it’s mot-likely. She’s been after your family for a long time, and she’s powerful… more powerful than I am. You need to becareful.”

The woman let out a sob as she clutched her baby tighter.

“Then, I will do everything I can to make sure he finds fils mate,” the woman vowed, her lips trembling. “Even if I have to hold a ball every year after he turns of age. I will do whatever it takes.”

“It’s not good enough for him to just meet his mate,” the older woman said, her voice softening. “He has to fall m love with her. Once he admits to himself that he is in love with his fated mate, the curse will be lifted. But if something happens to his mate by then…”

Her voice trailed off, not wanting to complete that sentence.

“You need to prepare for the worst,” she said. “Finding a fated mate is incredibly rare, and there’s a chance/she could be marked by another by the time he meets her. If she wears another mark… the curse will be stamped on him forever.”

The images blurred together until they disappeared and the ripples stopped. I looked at my mother with tears in

my eyes.

“Why are you showing me this?” I asked her, my voice a broken whisper.

“His curse has yet to be broken,” she said, looking at me. “Which means he is marrying a woman he does not love. There was another piece of the prophecy hidden from the prince. The future King and Queen will join two nations in matrimony. Which means whoever he is destined to marry… his true mate,… is meant to join together two important nations.”

My chest tightened.

“What does any of this have to do with me?” I asked, my brows furrowed.

“Cecilia… you know Sophia. What could she offer in a marriage that brings together two important nations?”
