Chapter 308
cilia’s POV
Pain was starting to become my entire world, but beneath it, a flicker of hope and confusion about the curse kept me holding on.
I couldn’t tell how much time had passed anymore. It could have been hours… or maybe days. If days had passed, that meant Leopold was now married to Sophia. He was living a happy life with his fated mate, while I was there, fighting for the life of our pup.
As much as I tried to get rid of it, the thought kept returning to me, reminding me that I was easily discarded and replaced by another. It was a bitter feeling, but I was forced to swallow it down.
My body no longer felt like it belonged to me.
Every breath burned, and every bruise throbbed.
The silver shackles had rubbed my wrists raw, and dried blood clung to my skin where I’d struggled against them. With the wolfsbane still coursing through my veins, I wasn’t able to heal like a normal wolf.
I laid my head on the cold ground, my hands resting protectively on my belly, my fingers trembling.
“Lora…” I whispered. “I just need to know you’re okay.”
The silence in my head was worse than any pain I felt. There wasn’t even a whisper of her presence left.
I squeezed my eyes shut tightly as tears spilled down my cheeks.
There was pain in my lower abdomen; I felt cramping and terror struck me, fearing for my baby’s safety.
My baby. Oh, Goddess. Please don’t let anything be wrong with my baby!
A sob escaped before I could stop it; would this still be my fate if I had just told Leopold the truth? If I told him that I was carrying his baby? Or maybe my fate would have been even worse. He probably would have killed me on the spot; or at the very least tried to kill the baby.
The thought made me crinkle my nose.
Warren would never allow that to happen; I knew that. But if Leopold had it his way, I wouldn’t be an issue for him.
“Well, look who’s finally awake,” a familiar voice said; I turned weakly to find one of the gammas standing there, a grin spreading across his face.
“Lady Sophia said we needed to keep her drugged until it’s time for her wedding,” another gamma said while folding his arms across his chest. “We need to do what she says, or we won’t get paid.”
The first gamma only rolled his eyes.
“No fun,” he muttered. “But you’re right. Besides, she said we can have fun after the wedding. It’s only a day away … I can be patient.”
He grabbed something on the table on the far side of the room before he returned to me. Without warning, he grabbed hold of my hair, yanking my head to expose my neck. I let out a cry of distress as tears burned my vision.
“Please…” I croaked. “Don’t…”

Before I could finish that sentence, I felt a piercing sting in my neck, and I sucked in a sharp breath.
back to sleep,” he muttered.

My breathing began to slow, and my vision started to become blurry. I wanted to beg for him to spare me… to let me go… to save my baby. But the words failed me, and all I could utter was a single whimper before everything, went black.
Warmth and a soft breeze combined, brushed against my face, carrying the scent of lavender and vanilla. A familiar scent that felt more like home than my actual home ever did.
My heart squeezed in my chest as hope bloomed in the pit of my belly.
I knew that scent.
My eyes fluttered open.
I lay in a field bathed in silver moonlight. My eyes were fixed on the dark sky, staring at the twinkling stars and the large moon that lit up my surroundings. Thousands of tiny white flowers stretched endlessly around me, dancing beneath a warm summer wind.
When I sat up, my hair fell around me, and I noticed I was wearing a white gown; it wasn’t a wedding gown… more like a sundress. I also felt no pain; there was no wolfsbane in my system and all the bruising on my body was
gone.
But that wasn’t what drew my attention the most; my belly was huge. I could feel my baby’s feet fluttering around me, and my heart began to race at a crazy speed. When I looked around, trying to get a glimpse of someone, my eyes landed on a wolf, sleeping in the field of flowers.
Lora.
