Chapter 307
anted to respond, to tell her about Cecilia and my growing feelings for her; I wanted to tell her about Warren’s attachment towards her and find out what it meant. But I couldn’t… at least not yet. I needed to make sure Cecilia was safe first.
I couldn’t explain it, but something inside of me was telling me to go to her; to make sure she was okay.
“We’ll talk later,” I assured her before I turned and took off after Landon.
Not long after, we were standing in front of the guards in the middle of the throne room. They looked pale, like they had seen ghosts.
“Why did you return?” I asked without a single greeting, the aggravation clear in my voice.
“Other gammas arrived and told us we had been relieved,” one of them answered. “Sire… something is wrong.
A low growl escaped me as anger surged through my veins; it was too powerful to be just my own. This was the first time I’ve ever felt my wolf’s emotions as strongly as I did at that very moment.
“I would say your next words carefully,” I said through my teeth, my vision going red.
“Cecilia is missing,” one of the gamma’s said quickly. “We went to her room, and she was gone…. but there were signs of struggle.”
I felt something thrashing inside of me, and Landon stepped forward once it was clear I could no longer form coherent sentences.
“What do you mean by signs of struggle?” Landon asked, his eyes narrowing at each of them. “What is it you’ve found?”
“We followed her scent to a room we believe she had slept in. By the closet, there was blood on the ground. It belonged to both her and the other gammas. We searched the entire room and came across this box. It was inside of a loose floorboard.”
One of the gammas presented a small chest with interesting symbols engraved around it.
“What’s inside?” Landon asked, eyeing the box suspiciously.
“We can’t get it open,” he said. “We’ve tried everything.”
“That’s because it’s sealed by blood,” Maevis said as she walked into the room.
When I turned to look at her, she gave me a pointed look.
“Did you truly think I wasn’t going to follow you?” She asked, raising her brows. “I’m not going to pry right now and ask who Cecilia is, but whatever is in that box, it won’t open for anyone other than who it’s meant for.”
I turned to the gammas, a growl in my voice as I said, “Find out where she is. I want answers before the end of the night.”
“Yes, Sire,” they said, bowing, clasping their fists over their chests, and retreating.
“There’s something you need to know,” Landon said, his eyes searching the box, his brows pinched together. Cecilia had come to me the other day… kind of.”
I turned to glare at him.

“What are you talking about?”

caught her spying on Alpha William… her and… well… your wolf,” Landon said, making my stomach roll. “She was trying to find information about her mother’s death and find a family heirloom.”
My eyes narrowed, turning to slits.
“Why would she be spying on Sophia’s father? What does he have to do with Cecilia’s mother?”
Landon swallowed.”
“It seems that Alpha William…is Cecilia’s father, Sire.”
It felt like the blood was rushing out of my body; an anger like no other coursed through me.
“What did you just say?”
