Fae could reach beyond the human consciousness and command the wolf beneath it. She could force even the strongest wolf into submission, and because wolf and human shared the same body, the vessel followed.

Sophia’s dormant wolf essence was no exception.

“Wh…what’s going on?” Sophia stammered, her eyes wide with sudden fear.

Fae remained perfectly still as if she hadn’t done a thing; this kind of control took no effort from her. It came as easily as breathing.

“Lower your hand.”

Sophia’s hand lowered immediately, and the horror on her face was enough to make Viktor laugh darkly.

“How are you doing this?” Sophia asked shakily, tears filling her eyes.

“What is your name?”

“S…Sophia,” she sputtered.

She bit her tongue, trying to keep herself from talking if she could help it. Viktor knew she couldn’t.

“Tell me, Sophia. How is it possible for a Luna Queen to have no wolf?”

Gasps erupted around the dining hall, eyes wide.

Sophia was trying desperately not to reply; so much so that she bit down on her tongue even harder until blood filled her mouth. But Fae didn’t relent, and Viktor knew she wouldn’t.

“I’m an Omega.”

More shocked gasps erupted around the room, and Viktor’s brows shot up to his hairline. He was told that the future Luna Queen was the Alpha King’s mate. Why would the Moon Goddess give the Alpha King an Omega mate?

It didn’t make any sense.

“A Luna Queen without a wolf and runs her mouth to those she doesn’t know. How shameful,” Fae said.

Sophia forcibly knelt to the ground; her knees bruising from the force and her body trembling as she tried desperately to gain control back.

“What gives you the right-” Sophia tried to say, but Fae internally stopped her from speaking.

“Should I kill you right now and end this Kingdom’s misery?” Fae asked. “I’m sure they would thank me for it.”

Sophia’s face paled as she tried to speak, but she was unable to get any words out.

“You are like a sputtering little mouth. Viktor, darling, come look at this pathetic little weasel. Thinking she has the upper hand because she’s pretending to be something she’s not.”

Viktor’s lips curved as he stepped towards his mate, his arm resting on the small of her back, and she melted

against him as she always did whenever he touched her. Sophia’s eyes darted to Viktor, and realization dawned; her face turned ghostly white.

“Killing her would only cause a war between our territories,” Viktor told her, pressing his lips to her temple. But there are other ways we can have some fun with her until the Alpha King arrives.”

Sophia trembled as she sputtered, trying to speak again but still unable.

Leopold’s scent grew near, and Viktor knew that it meant he was close to the palace.

“Let me take it from here,” Viktor told Fae, his voice low enough for only her ears. “I don’t want your hands to get dirty.”

Fae let out a soft laugh as she turned to her husband.

“You know I can end her without breaking a nail. I don’t have to touch her at all. I can simply make her stop breathing.”

Viktor smiled and gently kissed her on the lips.

“And I love you for that. But as I said, I’d rather not start a war,” he told her. “Go upstairs to our room, and I will join you in a moment.”

Fae nodded, kissing his cheek before she turned and walked out of the dining hall, her head held high as if she owned the very ground she walked on. Several warriors followed her out on Viktor’s command.

Viktor turned to the girl, Sophia, and his lips curved when he saw the tears streaming down her face.

“Please… Lycan King,” she whispered hoarsely. “I had no idea that was your Luna… I–”

Viktor nodded at one of his guards at that moment, and the guard swung, effectively striking Sophia across the face. Blood poured out of her nose, and Sophia let out a whimper of pain.

“Trash like you doesn’t deserve to be queen.”

Viktor turned at that moment.

Ready to head into the foyer to greet the very man who decided this woman was fit to not only be his mate, but also his queen.

“My Lord,” Beta Conrad said through a mindlink. “Luciana brought in an outsider.”

Viktor’s steps faltered.

“What?”
