The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 310

Chapter 310

cilia’s POV

I stared at my mother in disbelief.

“She’s been lying?” I asked. “This whole time? Are you sure?”

“Yes,” she told me with certainty. “I have been watching both of you grow alongside each other. She is rotten. She was born from two rotten souls. But you, Cecilia. You have always been different, and she can see that. You threaten her.”

I pressed my lips together.

“I’m not sure why,” I murmured. “She’s always the one who got the attention. She’s my father’s favorite child.

“That’s because your father fears you.”

I blinked as I looked at her.

“Fears me? Why would he fear me?” The idea was so absurd I almost wanted to laugh out loud. “I’ve got nothing he would want.”

“You are wrong,” mother whispered, her eyes flickering with secrets I longed to understand. “Do you still have the heirloom I left for you?”

“No, I dropped it in the box when the gammas attacked me,” I told her, the question taking me off guard. “What does the heirloom have to do with anything?”

She gripped my shoulders, fear evident in her wide eyes.

“You must make sure your father doesn’t get his hands on it,” she told me. “If he does…”

The sounds of heavy footsteps cut her off, and suddenly the ground started to shake. My mother sucked in a sharp breath.

“We don’t have any more time. You must wake now… before they come for you. You’re in an underground bunker. There’re barely any real flooring or walls; it’s mostly made up of underground elements. Find a rock or anything with sharp edges and smash it into the silver part of the cuffs. It’ll hurt, but it’s the only part of the cuff that’s fragile enough to break. Once that’s broken, the cuffs should be easy to get off. Follow the darkest corners of the bunker until you find a ladder. Climb the ladder and spin the dial 4 times to the left and 3 times to the right. Once you hear a clicking sound, spin it until it opens. Once you’re out of the bunker, run in the direction of the moonlight. Do not stop for anything, Cecilia.”

My heart thudded against my chest as I shook my head, but I refused to give up. I had to find a way out.

“Mom, please… I have so many questions. Why should Father be afraid of me? What am I supposed to do about Sophia? Who is Leopold’s true mate if not Sophia?”

My mother wrapped me in her arms, her warmth making me feel safe and cared for,

Tears burned in my eyes as I wrapped my arms around her too.

“I wish I could answer your questions now. But they are almost there. They will hurt you. You need to get up and get out… before it’s too late.”

Before I could protest, she pressed her lips to my forehead.

My eyes flew open a second later; the relentless pain returned with a vengeance.

Agasp tore from my throat as every bruise, every cut, every ache crashed back into my body all at once. My wrists burned where the silver cuffs dug into raw flesh, and the familiar sting of wolfsbane still coursed through my veins.

It wasn’t a dream.

At least… not entirely.
