The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 243

Chapter 243

Tidn’t realize how large the palace clinic was until this very moment, but there were sections and sections of different spaces. This clinic literally had everything.

We finally reached another set of large doors, and she pulled them open. We stepped into a large waiting area with its own front desk. There were chairs and couches in the center of the room and off to the side, along with some coffee tables and side tables. Low-lit lanterns lit up the place, and there was a soft pink rug in the center.

It was nice; almost cozy.

It didn’t make me feel like I was standing in the middle of the clinic.

There was a woman behind the front desk organizing some files. She looked like she was middle-aged, and she wasn’t someone I recognized.

I noticed that on the far side of the waiting area, there was a door leading outside. I had no idea this place had its own entrance. I wondered how I had missed it before; it seemed to go right out into the courtyard.

The woman turned just as we entered, and when she saw Victoria, she smiled.

“Ma’am, it’s good to see you,” she said kindly. “What can I do for you?”

“Is Rosa here this evening?” Victoria asked. “I have someone I need her to see.”

The woman nodded.

“She is. Let me go get her,” she said, and then she disappeared through another set of doors.

Victoria turned to me, a small smile on her lips.

“You’ll like Rosa. She’s the head OBGYN and the only one I trust to take care of the King’s favored concubine,” she tells me. “You can trust her.”

I wasn’t sure I could trust many people in this place, but from the way she talked and looked at me, I knew she was telling the truth. I relaxed a little and nodded.

Not long after, the woman was returning with someone else right behind her. The newcomer was gorgeous in an older kind of way; she looked old enough to be my mother, if not a young grandmother. She had silver hair with red streaks that she kept tied back and out of her face.

Her face had zero blemishes, and her eyes were almost violet and warm, equipped with long lashes. She had a kind smile on her face when she saw Victoria, and Victoria returned it, just as kind and warm.

“Rosa, it’s good to see you,” Victoria greeted. “Sorry, I don’t come here as often anymore. But I trust you to run this department without my assistance.”

“No apology necessary, Victoria,” Rosa said, her smile growing. “It’s been quiet here anyway. What can I do for you?”

“I’m here with Cecilia, the King’s favored concubine,” Victoria said, stepping aside so Rosa could see me.

Rosa’s eyes widened when they landed on me.

“Oh, my,” she breathed. “It’s an honor to meet you. I’ve heard a ton.”

My cheeks warmed; I could only imagine what she must have heard about me, but I brushed the thought out of my head, not wanting to go down that rabbit hole.

“Uncle, the King won’t leave that bitch Cecilia alone. I needed to figure out what to do to keep him away from

she said, shaking her head with disgust evident on her face. “Please, you have to help me.”

“And what do you expect me to do? Pretend that you are terminally ill so that King takes pity?” He asked, raising his brows.

“Of course, not… I can’t have him thinking his future queen is going to drop dead. Maybe makes it seem like I’m a little sick and need his constant attention to heal. The attention of a mate.”

Dr. Richards squinted as he stared at her.

“Tell me the truth, Sophia. Is the King truly your mate?”

She rolled her eyes, a small smile tipping the corner of her lips.

“Does it matter?” She asked. “Soon enough, I’ll be the queen and Cecilia will be nothing but dirt beneath my shoe once I finish stepping on her and taking everything she ever had. Please… help me, and I’ll make it worth your while.”

“And how exactly do you plan to do that?”
