Chapter 219
iana?” He asked, furrowing, “The New Luna?”
My stomach twisted at that title. The fact that my father actually married Diana, making her the Luna, felt like a stab in my chest.
“I was told she was speaking to my mother right before she died,” I explained. “There’s something they aren’ telling me, and I need to figure out what it is.”
“So, you’re going back to the pack?”
“I don’t have a choice right now,” I admitted. “I have to find out the truth… and then after that, I’m going to use the money given to me by the King and start my life over. On my own.”
There was a bit of sadness in my tone at that last part, but I cleared my throat and looked up at him.
“I owe it to my mom to find out who I am without the pack.”
Jax sighed, then gave me a sad smile.
“I understand,” he murmured. “I don’t like it, but I understand. I’m sorry, Cecilia.”
“You don’t need to be sorry,” I tell him. “But at some point, I might need your help. I’m not sure if this is something I can do on my own, and I’ll need you in my corner.”
This time, he gave me a more genuine smile.
“You know I will always be in your corner,” he assured me.
He turned and opened my bedroom door, stepping back into the corridor.
“We’re still good, right?” He asked, his voice dropping slightly.
“Yeah, we are still good,” I tell him as I step into his space and wrap my arms around him.
He returned the hug before we pulled apart.
“I’ll see you soon,” he told me, and then he was gone.
I blinked at the memory and shook it free from my thoughts. Jax and I were going to be okay… he’s my friend and that’s all that matters.
“Oh, hey Cecilia,” Claira said with a soft smile. “I was just meeting the girls in the lounge for some tea and pastries. Care to join?”
“Yeah, sure,” I say.
I go with her to the gardens.
Jasmine and Cora were already seated at one of the white round tables, which had a pink umbrella to block out the
sun.
“Hey, you found her,” Jasmine said, motioning for the two empty seats. I sat in one while Claira sat in the other.
“You look pale,” Cora said with a frown, motioning for one of the nearby slaves to pour more tea and serve more pastries.
“Yeah, are you okay?” Jasmine asked. “Did you sleep last night?”

“Hardly,” I admitted. “But I’m alright.”
One of the slaves started to pour tea into my cup, and I went to smile to thank her, but then the smell of the mint leaves made my stomach roll. I pressed my lips together and turned my head away.
“Cecilia?” Jasmine asked with a frown.
“Can you excuse me?” I asked before she could ask anything else.
I quickly stood, almost knocking the chair down in the process, and hurried out of the garden patio/Once I was through the little white gates that led to the rest of the gardens, I found it a bit easier to breathe. The flowers that surrounded me made the nausea settle just a little, and I could finally release the breath I was holding.
