Chapter 210
Cecilia’s POV
The realization hit me so hard that for a moment, I forgot how to breathe.
The aphrodisiac… the gamma… everything. It was Sophia’s planning. She was the one who had done this. Except. in her mind, it wasn’t Leopold I ended up in bed with… it was the gamma. She had no idea what happened that night, and I was, in a way, grateful for that.
But realizing that Sophia was the one who drugged me and set me up, my stomach tightened. She was once someone I considered my best friend… a sister. I knew it had all been an act, and she didn’t like me… but to do something this evil… this cruel? I didn’t think she had it in her, but I was wrong.
Sophia watched my expression carefully, and the slow smile spread across her face told me everything I needed to know. She wanted me to figure it out… she wanted me to know what she had done, that it was all her.
“You?” I whispered… my voice trembling slightly.
Her smile widened slightly.
“I warned you to learn your place, and to stay away from the King,” she said, folding her arms across her chest. ” And yet I find him leaving your room the other day. Do you have any idea how that made me look and feel? To see my mate leaving the room of another woman? I needed to get even and to remind you and the King that you are nothing but a slut… a concubine. That’s all you’ll ever be around this palace.”
Her words were like a slap in the face..
Rage surged through me so suddenly that my hands started to shake.
“But… you drugged me,” I said, my voice filled with disbelief.
The servants nearby immediately stiffened; they looked at one another as if they were ashamed. I recognized one of them… she was the one who brought me the tea. Who told me that Jasmine and the others wanted me to wait for them in the lounge? But it was a lie. She was a part of this… she set me up. She was the one who served me the drugged tea.
Bile rose in my throat.
I was so stupid… so humiliated.
Sophia only tilted her head innocently.
“And nobody will believe you,” she said, smirking. “It’s your word against mine, and guess what? I’m the King’s mate. Which means my word is law around here. You saw how everyone reacted when they thought you pushed me and broke my ankle?”
She let out a laugh and shook her head.
“I’m honestly surprised they didn’t drag you away and beat you in the dungeons. But I suppose that’s the perk of being the King’s favored concubine. Although I bet you won’t be if he found out you slept with one of the gammas the other night. Would be a shame if he found out, don’t you think?”
Dread filled me, but at the same time, it wasn’t a gamma I ended up in bed with. It was Leopold. I wondered if he would tell her about that night if she were to tell him I slept with a gamma. Or if he would believe her and think that I am truly a slut.

My pulse thundered violently in my ears as the reality of the situation crashed down around me. She almost had
e-raped by a gamma warrior… one that was sworn to protect the King and all his people.
“You sent that gamma after me,” I whispered. “What did you say to him to convince him to betray the King?”
She rolled her eyes.
“I didn’t have to say anything. Not every Gamma around this palace is in the King’s favor. Some of them feel trapped and want to leave… others are only here for the status and the money. I could tell from my conversation with him that he would be easy to persuade, and I was right. It really took no effort,” she muttered, shaking her head. “That’s one thing I’m going to fix once I’m the Queen. I’m going to get rid of all the corrupted Gammas.
Starting with that one.”
