The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 207

Chapter 207

We still have to wait until after the wedding,” Claira reminded her. “We still have at least a week. Maybe even two, depending on the wedding details.”

“Seriously, what’s going on with Sophia?” I asked, stopping their banter.

Jasmine turned back to me.

“Oh, right,” she said, remembering what she wanted to tell me. “She’s already acting like she’s the queen and ordering servants around. Complaining about meals. Rearranging flowers because apparently the colors upset her.”

My brows furrowed at the thought.

“Seriously?”

“She told one of the maids that she didn’t like the perfume burning in the west hall and demanded they replace all of it,” Jasmine continued before leaning even closer, dropping her voice to a low whisper. “And then she started yelling because Leopold still hasn’t announced an official wedding date.”

A strange ache twisted through his chest at the mention of him, but I swallowed it down, not wanting to entertain the thought for another second. 1

“And Leopold has no idea of any of it,” Claira said just before she took a sip of her tea and then set the mug down. “He’s been AWOL during the entire thing, and nobody will dare tell him that his mate is insane.”

My cheeks burned again; I knew why Leopold hadn’t been around. It was because he was with me… making the biggest mistake of both of our lives.

“She’s unbearable,” Jasmine murmured. “I’m just glad that after they get married, we don’t have to stick around to be ordered around by her.”

Despite myself, the corner of my mouth twitched slightly; only slightly. It was nice to see her true colors starting to surface, and others seeing her for who she was. Maybe that was why I hadn’t been locked up after she blamed me for shoving her… because it was obvious she was lying and crazy.

The small moment of peace didn’t last long, though, because soon, the door to the lounge opened and Sophia walked in.

The color drained from Jasmine’s face, and I knew what she was thinking.

Had Sophia heard all the things that were said about her just now?

The room was completely silent; the servants cleaned up some of the tea, straightened, and bowed deeply to Sophia; the other concubines tensed, hearing the same things Jasmine had heard and not wanting to get on her bad side.

Sophia noticed the new tension in the room at her presence, and the corner of her mouth lifted into a smirk. She was enjoying this, and it made my stomach feel tight.

She moved through the room slowly, her chin lifted slightly higher than usual while two servants followed behind her carrying fabric swatches and jewelry boxes. The room watched her move as she navigated through the lounge, her eyes finding mine as if she knew I was there all along.

Then, I saw them darken with something I didn’t recognize, and my chest tightened even more.

She stopped in front of our table, her eyes never leaving mine.

‘s rude not to stand and bow to your queen… don’t you think?”

Her voice was velvety, but it held hidden venom.

Jasmine and the others immediately stood and bowed to Sophia without question, obviously not wanting to get on her bad side and make things more complicated for themselves. I remained seated, not wanting to bow to someone I thought was my friend.

“Is there something I can help you with, Sophia?” I asked, causing the room to gasp audibly at my candid words.

She pressed her lips together and narrowed her eyes.
