Chapter 206
Cecilia’s POV
I couldn’t stop thinking about his words.
It was just sex.
The sentence played in my mind repeatedly like a blade being twisted deeper into my chest. Every time I closed my eyes, I remembered the way he looked at me afterward. He was cold and detached, like he regretted/touching me
the second it was over.
Yet, he let me sleep the rest of the night beside him. He waited until the morning to tell me that it was a mistake and that it should never have happened.
Somehow, that hurt worse than anything else.
I stared down at the tea in front of me, barely aware of the conversations happening around me in the dining lounge. I wasn’t even sure if I trusted the tea enough to drink it, not after the last time I drank tea and was drugged with aphrodisiac.
I wasn’t even entirely sure how that happened or why.
It was different this time, though, because Cora was the one who got me this tea, and I trusted her and the other girls.
Jasmine was saying something, and Claira and Cora were laughing softly in response. But the sounds blurred together into meaningless noise because all I could think about was Leopold, Or rather… the terrible mistake I had made with him.
I winced at the very thought of it.
I should have never gone to his room; then again, it’s not like I knew it was his room when I first stumbled inside. I was trying to get back to my own room and take an ice bath. But I made a mistake and went through the wrong door out of desperation to get away from that gamma.
The thought of that gamma still walking around this palace somewhere made dread fill my stomach. I should tell Leopold that one of his warriors was corrupted, but the thought of speaking to him again made bile rise in my throat, and my heart beat a little faster.
I should never have let myself fall apart in front of him. I might have been drugged up, but I remember the events of last night so vividly that my cheeks burned at the thought. I shouldn’t have let myself forget for a second that Leopold belonged to someone else.
“Earth to Cecilia,” Jasmine said, waving her hand in front of my face. “You still with us?”
I blinked, looking up at the three girls, and saw that they were all staring at me with matching worried expressions on their faces.
“Sorry,” I said, shaking my head. “I didn’t sleep well last night. I’m a little out of it.”
“You look awful,” Claira pointed out, her brows furrowed.
“Thanks,” I muttered weakly.
“I’m serious,” she said, cocking her head to the side. “You look like you haven’t slept in days, not just last night.”
If only she knew the extent of what I had done and what had happened to me last night… she would understand. I

knew I could trust them; they’ve proven it time and time again. But every time I opened my mouth to speak, the Words just never came out.
Eventually, I let out a breath and dropped my head.
“I’m just exhausted,” I admitted.
The girls were quiet for a moment before glancing at one another, frowning. It was obvious that none of them believed me, but I was grateful that they didn’t push.
Instead, Jasmine leaned forward, a small smile ghosting her lips.
“Then, maybe this will cheer you up,” she said, her voice dropping low. “Lady Sophia nearly lost her mind this morning.”
