The Alpha King's Mind Reading Maid (Cecilia) novel Chapter 128

Chapter 128

Cecilia’s POV

The accusation in his voice caught me off guard. I was frozen, staring at him with my brows furrowed.

He looked aggravated, and I couldn’t understand why.

“I’m sorry, what?” I asked, needing him to clarify what he meant.

He scowled at me, and I flinched, taking a step away from him.

“You want me to sleep so you can hang out with my wolf,” he said, pointing his finger at me, as he had already figured me out.” Did you really think I wouldn’t figure that out?”

I blinked, even more confused now.

“What made you think I want Warren to take control and hang out with me?” I asked. “He needs rest just as much as you do. Your body has been through a lot.”

“I’m not stupid, Cecilia. I saw the way you were with him. You are different with him than you are with me. He’s your friend… and I’m not.”

I could hear the raw bitterness in his tone, and it was catching me off guard more than anything. The way he looked at me, I realized it wasn’t anger he was feeling. It was pain… maybe even a little jealousy.

My cheeks were burning with heat, though, and I couldn’t get past the part where he said he had seen us together. When was he conscious when I hung out with Warren? And how much did he hear and see?

The thought of Leopold being tuned in when Warren kissed me… I’m pretty sure I was about to combust with embarrassment.

Had he known that Warren kissed me and that I didn’t push him away? Was that what he was referring to this entire time?

“Nothing to say now, huh?” He asked, letting out a scoff and shaking his head. “Just leave. I can patch up my own wounds.”

He looked away from me at that moment, and suddenly, I was feeling cold. I blinked, trying to keep my eyes from welling up with tears. Crying in front of him was the last thing I needed to do right now.

He started to get up, his movements careful, and he winced when he moved his arm. My chest tightened even more, and I could feel Lora’s discomfort with watching him trying to move himself.

Without thinking, I stepped closer to him and put my hand on his shoulder.

“Just sit still,” I tell him, my voice softening. There was defeat in my tone, some he could hear no doubt.

He looked at my hand for a moment, his body tensing, and then he looked up at my face. For a moment, I thought he was going to deny me and tell me to leave again. But he let out a breath and settled back into his bed, his expression equally defeated, as if he, too, was tired of arguing.

I made my way into his bathroom to gather some supplies. He had a first-aid kit on the wall that I grabbed, along with some cloths and a bowl of warm water. I was glad that I got him out of that infirmary before Warren took control and killed everyone in that infirmary.

The moment the doctor said he would clean out his wounds, I heard Warren’s growl of warning.
