Chapter 125
I went to his side, putting my hand on his back, trying to ground him.
“You need medical attention,” Tell him, my voice leaving no room for argument. Though normally that wouldn’t have stopped him, the way he was looking at me at this moment tugged at my heart.
It wasn’t defiance; it was something else.
Pain maybe?
“Come on,” I tell him, hoping ot get him to come with me.
He let out a breath, and then, to my surprise, he actually nodded. Landon helped me get Leopold to his feet.
“Are you able to take him inside?” Landon asked. “I’m going to patrol the area with the gammas and see what I can find out about this attack.”
I nodded.
“Yeah, I should be fine,” I assure him, tightening my hold on Leopold’s arm.
He was on his feet and able to move himself, but I feared he would fall over again. I was going to have to stop pretending to be a weak Omega and really hold up his weight if that were to happen.
Landon went off after the gammas, and I headed inside the palace with Leopold tucked against my side. He moved with little effort, and I could hear him grunting slightly with each movement, as it pained him to move. I’m sure he could feel the wolfbane coursing through his veins as we speak.
We entered the palace doors, and some of the guards at the doorway were looking at us with a concerned look on their faces. I tried to give them reassuring smiles, but they still looked at the King with worry.
Leopold barely paid them any attention, though; I think he was too lost in his own mind to really think about much of anything.
By the time we reached the palace infirmary, Leopold’s weight was practically all on me. He was much paler than he had been a moment ago, and he even started to sweat. I could tell the poison was running through him fully now, and he was trying desperately to keep his eyes open.
My heart ached for him.
“What happened?” One of the doctors asked as he rushed towards us. “Your Majesty?”
“Wolfsbane,” I said, my voice coming out breathless. “He was poisoned.”
“Fuck,” the doctor said, taking Leopold’s other arm and guiding him towards one of the beds. “He’s allergic to wolfsbane.”
I nodded, my heart racing in my chest.
“I know; is there something we can do for him?” I asked.
He helped Leopold into the bed; his head falling onto the pillow as if it was a struggle to keep it up. His eyes were unfocused, but
I could tell he was trying hard not to fall asleep. I reached out, gently touching his hand, trying to be a reassuring presence, not that I thought it would help or anything.
One of the nurses came up to the doctor upon the doctor’s request with a syringe.
“This will help with his allergic reaction. It should counter the effects,” the doctor explained. “I just hope it’s not too late.”
“Too late?” I echoed, fear suddenly clinging to me.
The doctor cleaned an area on the King’s neck before he stuck the syringe into his flesh.

The greenish liquid from the syringe entered Leopold’s body, and I swear I saw him wincing. It was strange that something that looked so simple could hurt him.
