Chapter 104

Cecilia’s POV

“It’s amazing how fast she is healing already. I’ve never seen an Omega with that ability before,” a woman said, her voice as soft as a whisper.

I didn’t recognize her voice.

“It could be the medicine we gave her,” another unfamilia woman’s voice said.

“Our medicine can’t do that,” the first woman said. “Not to this extent.”

Before the other one could say a word in response, I started to open my eyes. I braced myself for bright lighting but was relieved to find the room fairly dim and easy on the eyes.

I was in an unfamiliar room, on a bed that wasn’t the one I’ve slept in these last few weeks. The scents around the room were different, and the women who were staring at me with wide eyes were also very unfamiliar. But it was clear to me that they were both Omega maids.

They looked almost terrified to see me, and then they looked at one another, a question in their eyes.

“She’s awake,” one of them said; she was shorter with brown hair that was pulled out of her face.

“Yes,” the other one, the voice of the first girl, said in response. She was older and taller; her hair was greying but also brunette, pulled into a ponytail; she had some sweat on the side of her face, with her greying hair stuck to it. “It appears that she is.”

I tried to move, but I realized quickly that most of my body was wrapped in bandages. However, I didn’t really feel like I was in any pain.

My memories were a bit foggy, but I remembered being attacked. I tried to remember more of what happened, but I couldn’t. My mind was still in a haze.

“Wolfsbane,” Lora said, her voice soft in my head.

I let out a relieved breath at the sound of her voice.

“You shouldn’t try to move too much,” the taller of the two women said, stepping a bit closer to me while the other stayed rooted to the ground. “Your body had been through a lot. It’s amazing that you are even alive.”

I swallowed the lump in my throat, my eyes darting around the room again.

“Where am I?” I asked, my voice coming out raspy.

“You are in the sealed palace,” the older of the two replied. “The King had you sent here for healing and protection.”

The King?

Leopold?

My heart thudded violently against my chest. I was being beaten in the woods… a masked figure was looming over me, and his appearance was starting to become even clearer to me. I had no idea who he was, but I remembered thinking he was familiar. The way his eyes looked at me through the mask, the curve of his lips when he gave me a bone-chilling smile.

I wanted to tear my skin off. The way he was looking at me made me feel sick to my stomach.

And then I passed out after feeling so much pain. I knew he was tearing me apart, but I couldn’t do anything to stop it.

The memory came rushing back to me suddenly, and I had to close my eyes while it passed.

“You should rest longer,” the older of the two said; it seemed she was the one in charge. Her expression softened slightly. “My name is Charlene. And this is Abby. We are the medical maids at the sealed palace. We tend to whoever we are ordered, and

tonight we are ordered to tend to you, Madam.”

“Where’s Leo… uh… the King I said, stammering over my words.

This time, it was the younger one, Abby, who answered.

“He’s… unable to come see you, we’re afraid,” she said softly. “He’s having a moment.”

My senses were immediately on alert.
