Chapter 101
Cecilia’s POV
When I woke up, my head was killing me. It felt like I was knocked out, but I remembered the piercing, sharp feeling in my neck, and I winced. Someone drugged me and brought me to this unknown place.
Now I had no idea where I was or what I was going to do.
I was lying on cold and damp ground. The twigs and branches beneath me make it hard for me to find comfort in this situation. I could feel the cold breeze, reminding me that I was outside, even with my eyes closed.
When I did finally open them, I saw that I was in the forest, though it didn’t look like I was near the palace. Nothing around me looked familiar.
I felt the slight warmth of the fire in front of me, and I furrowed my brows.
It was a normal-looking campfire… like we were camping. There was a tent sitting behind me, but I wasn’t picking up the scent of whoever was inside it, as if they were trying to mask their scent from me.
I went to move, to stand… anything. I needed to find out where I was and how far I had traveled from the palace before whoever had taken me returned. But I winced when I felt the silver chains tugging at my legs, burning into my flesh, and making me
grunt.
“You’ve finally woken,” a voice said from behind me.
I turned to see a man walking out of the tent, a mask securely in place, covering everything but his eyes and mouth. He was the same man I saw just before I passed out… the one who stuck me with a syringe.
“Was beginning to think I accidently killed you,” he laughed as he had just made a joke.
I blinked as I stared up at him, my mind still foggy from whatever he had drugged me with.
“Where am I?” I asked, my voice coming out hoarse, making me realize how dry it was.
“I’m the one who will be asking the questions,” the man said, stepping even closer. “And you’re the one who’s going to answer them.”
He pointed at me with the dagger that he was holding, and my heart picked up speed as it beat against my ribcage. That was a silver dagger… silver being poisonous for all werewolves.
“I haven’t done anything,” I tell him with panic clear in my tone. “What do you want with me?”
He moved so fast, I barely had time to react before I felt the sting of the dagger across my cheek. I felt the warm blood drip down the side of my face and then watched it drip off the silver blade, my eyes wide.
My breath became shaky as pain surged through me.
“I said… I will be the one asking questions,” he repeated through his teeth. “Now, you’re going to be a good little concubine and tell me everything I want to know about the precious King.”
“My body trembled as I stared up at him. He wanted to know about King Leopold?
“There’s nothing to tell. The King is a very private–”
He didn’t let me finish that sentence before he had the dagger pressed to my throat.
“Now now… wouldn’t it be a shame if I sliced this pretty little neck of yours?” He asked, his tone deepening and the air becoming colder by the second. “I never took you for someone this stupid… You seem like a smart girl.”
