Spending three days with Tilly had kept Sheila incredibly busy.
She took care of the kid during the day and worked at night.
Even though the little one wasn't even three years old yet, she had an endless supply of energy.
Sheila was genuinely happy spending time with her, but the exhaustion was real.
There were other staff members around the manor, but Tilly refused to get close to any of them.
Over the past three days, the bond between the two had visibly deepened.
However, Sheila had been giving her gentle reminders, making sure Tilly knew that once her dad came back, Sheila would have to leave.
Though reluctant, the little girl was very understanding.
But soon enough, Sheila got to witness a classic toddler flip-flop.
"Is your dad back?" Hearing the commotion, Sheila called out to Tilly.
Tilly had been playing so hard her little face was flushed red, and her pigtails were slightly crooked.
Her eyes sparkled, dark and wide like little grapes.
"Daddy?"
Like a tiny cannonball, she charged on her short little legs toward the tall man.
Sheila stood behind her, watching Edmond bend down to scoop his daughter up into his arms. The pure adoration on his face was something she had never seen before.
He was Jewel's husband, which was why one phone call from her had him rushing back home overnight.
He was Tilly's father, which was why he poured all his tenderness and affection into his daughter.
From that perspective, he was a perfectly adequate husband and father.
Yet he was still entangled in an ambiguous affair with Pippa Golding.
Sheila remembered Edmond claiming he was busy.
Now it seemed Edmond truly was busy.
Busy with his family, busy with his work, and busy with... his affairs.
He had to maintain the stability of his household while keeping his romantic escapades going on the side.
Carrying Tilly, Edmond walked over and looked down at Sheila. "I'm back."
