Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 153

Whenever they were alone, he practically wanted to fuse himself to her side, acting like a giant, overbearing accessory.

He never wanted to be separated from her for even a minute.

And he used to be so good at sweet-talking.

His words had always flowed like honey, sweet and intoxicating.

Nothing like how he was now.

Before, his mouth was full of sweetness; now, it felt like he kept a hidden box of razor blades behind his teeth.

When she didn't respond, Edmond spoke again. "What's your work schedule for the weekend?"

"We don't really differentiate between weekends and workdays," she said. "We're busy every single day."

"Your professor is essentially your boss. How is he better at exploiting people than a ruthless capitalist?"

"It's not exploitation. We voluntarily stay back to put in overtime because we want to finish the project ahead of schedule."

"Right," Edmond said dryly. "After all, I'm waiting for you to make me money."

Thinking about it, she supposed he was right.

If the project was a success, there would be massive demand for it, and it would definitely be highly profitable.

But before they reached that point, the upfront investment was staggering.

And there was still a chance it could fail.

She was actually very grateful that Edmond had chosen to invest when he did.

At the very least, it gave York Preston peace of mind without worrying about funding.

"Clear a day this weekend," Edmond ordered. "Take Tilly out to play."

"That might be..." Sheila hesitated, feeling cornered. "I'm not sure if I can make the time..."

"Figure it out," he stated flatly. "If not the weekend, then pick another day."

"I'll try my best."

He shot her a glance.

Was she really being this obedient?

It seemed like no matter what he demanded, she wasn't fighting back.

"By the way, when we get back tonight, organize the clothes in my walk-in closet."
