Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 152

"Did you read the message I sent you last night?"

Edmond's voice was cold.

But if someone were paying close attention, they would have noticed the heat in his gaze.

Right now, Sheila was completely makeup-free, her hair sleep-tousled and a little messy.

To anyone else, she might have looked unkempt.

But for Edmond, all it did was remind him of when they used to live together. This was exactly how she looked every morning when they woke up.

She was effortlessly, devastatingly alluring.

He always had to fight the urge to kiss her.

Sometimes, he would pin her to the mattress for a little morning cardio instead.

His Adam's apple bobbed, and he forced himself to look away.

Sheila had already snapped into professional mode. "I read it. Mr. Halley, I'll go wash up and change right now!"

She had set an alarm. Since it hadn't gone off yet, she figured she still had time.

Edmond looked back at her. "You know there's a penalty for being late, right?"

"I know, but I..." A sudden horrible realization dawned on her. "What... what time is it?"

"Seven forty."

She let out a gasp. "I... I..."

Did her alarm not go off, or had she turned it off in her sleep?

She couldn't remember a thing.

"I told you I'd let the first offense slide. But I clearly laid out the rules last night, and you immediately overslept today. Are you ready to accept your punishment, Sheila?"

She had no defense. "I accept it."

"Good," he said. "That's one extra day added."

She gritted her teeth. "Fine."

It was just one more day, right?

She swore to herself she wouldn't make another mistake!

Moving at record speed, she washed up, changed her clothes, and hurried out of the bedroom, finding Edmond already seated at the dining table.

She rushed over, not daring to sit down. "Mr. Halley, what do you need me to do right now?"

"Eat."

She felt anxious and more than a little guilty.
