Simon couldn't exactly take this to their family.
Sheila had moved into the dorms the moment she started college.
Simon could tell that she always felt like an outsider in their home.
But the truth was, his family had never viewed her that way.
He also knew she absolutely wouldn't want her relatives knowing about her romantic entanglements.
Left with no other options, he thought about it and finally called Yvaine Marin.
Yvaine picked up, sounding mildly surprised. "Simon? What's the occasion?"
They knew each other through Sheila, had shared a few meals, and were decently acquainted, though they rarely kept in touch.
"Yvaine," Simon asked, "have you spoken to Sheila recently?"
"We text almost every day."
"Then do you know..." he hesitated. "Has she been spending a lot of time with Edmond Halley?"
"What?" Yvaine gasped in shock. "Spending time together... Did they get back together?"
"How is that possible!" Simon argued. "The man is married with a kid! How could they possibly get back together!"
Yvaine paused. "Simon, there's something I need to tell you."
"What is it?"
"Well... before, we all assumed Edmond married Jewel Baker. But... they didn't."
That day, Yvaine had spotted Jewel with another man, accompanied by Jewel's mother.
At first, she had cynically thought to herself that rich people were insanely brazen about their affairs.
Jewel wasn't even hiding it from her own mother.
That was until she overheard Jewel's mother say something.
She had said, "You've been married for a few years now..."
