Edmond was still behind her, fighting off four or five men all by himself!

Unable to help herself, Sheila finally threw a glance over her shoulder.

That single look nearly tore her soul apart.

"Edmond!"

He had thrown himself in her path, and a thug's knife sank viciously into his back!

As he stumbled, she lunged forward, catching him as tears blurred her vision. "Edmond..."

"Mr. Halley!"

The voices of his bodyguards suddenly erupted nearby.

They rushed in and swiftly neutralized the attackers.

Holding onto him, her voice trembled, "How are you?"

He braced his hand on her shoulder and steadied himself. "I'm... fine."

She refused to let go of his arm. "Can you walk? Let's get inside..."

He glanced down at her.

She was crying non-stop, her voice shaking.

He looked away.

They quickly made it into the hospital, where the doctors treated and bandaged his wound.

Initially, Sheila couldn't stop crying.

But once they were inside, she didn't say another word.

Since he was already an inpatient, it bypassed a lot of the usual administrative hassle.

Once his wound was stitched up, he was wheeled straight back to his room.

By the time Dante Spencer rushed over, Edmond was already settled in bed.

The knife had struck his right shoulder, so he was forced to lie on his stomach for now.

Dante gave him a quick rundown of some pressing matters, and upon leaving the room, spotted Sheila.

She was sitting blankly in the corridor, staring at the floor, lost in thought.

Dante let out a silent sigh.

He had already heard the bodyguards' report and knew exactly what went down.

The attacker had aimed for Sheila, and Edmond had thrown himself in front of her to take the hit.

For a couple who had supposedly broken up, a move like that...

He didn't know what to make of it.

He also didn't know how to comfort her.
