Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 85

She looked even more exhausted than the guy who actually got stabbed.

His frown deepened.

"Have Dante take you home."

After what happened today, even though she wasn't physically hurt, she was definitely traumatized.

"I'm not leaving," she finally said. "I'm your carer, aren't I? The doctor said you need to be monitored tonight in case of a fever."

"I don't need you for that." He reached for his phone. "I'll call..."

She reached over and snatched the device from him.

He stared at her. "What are you doing?"

"I said, I'm staying," she replied. "I don't want to owe you, Edmond."

"What?"

"What happened today was my fault."

If she hadn't run out there, this wouldn't have happened.

They wouldn't have been mugged, and he wouldn't have gotten hurt trying to protect her.

"You don't need to blame yourself," he said. "I'm an adult. I take responsibility for my own actions."

"But you got hurt because of me..."

His voice cooled a fraction. "Given the situation... I would have saved anyone."

"Even so, thank you," she said. "And, I'm sorry."

With that, she sat down in the chair next to the bed and pulled out a book. "Do you want me to read to you?"

He stared at her. "I told you to go. Do you not understand English?"

"I'm not leaving," she insisted. "Once you're discharged, I'll go."

"What exactly are you trying to pull, Sheila?" His tone turned icy. "Acting like this... and you still claim you feel nothing for me?"

"Reverse psychology doesn't work on me," she retorted. "Like you said, you would have saved anyone. Same goes for me—no matter who saved my life, I would stay and take care of them."

He fell silent.

"Tell me immediately if you feel uncomfortable," she added.

Only then did he say, "Go rest in the outer room. I'll call you if I need anything."
