Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 74

Sheila glanced around but didn't see his jacket anywhere. All she spotted was a suitcase.

She walked straight over and reached for the handle. "Is it in here?"

"Don't touch that!"

She froze.

His voice was ice-cold. "Keep your hands off my suitcase!"

In a flash, it brought her back to the restaurant, to the moment she had reached for Simon's coat.

Edmond had completely misunderstood and barked at her not to touch his clothes.

As if she even wanted to touch his things!

Her own temper flared. "Then where is your jacket?"

He jutted his chin. "Over there."

Spotting it, she said flatly, "Wait a moment."

With that, she marched out of the room.

Edmond furrowed his brow.

Fortunately, she didn't keep him waiting long.

Barely two minutes later, she walked back in.

Standing at the door, she held up her hands for him to see. "Look. I put on disposable gloves."

Without missing a beat, she used her gloved hands to pull his jacket down.

Keeping her arms completely straight, she made absolutely sure the fabric didn't brush against her at all.

A muscle feathered at the corner of his eye. "What is this supposed to mean?" he gritted out. "Is my jacket toxic or something?"

She couldn't even be bothered to answer him.

He was the one who practically snapped at her for touching his things, and now he was offended by her precautions.

He always had to have it his way.

Without a word, she handed the jacket over.

He tossed it carelessly aside and just stared at her.

"It's not that your jacket is toxic," she finally said. "It's just that I'm far too lowly to warrant touching your belongings."

"Why are you being so passive-aggressive?" he demanded, scowling. "Act normal, Sheila!"

She had zero desire to continue this conversation.
