"Oh, I see," she smiled. "Yvaine is single too, you know."
Dante's expression faltered. "Whether... whether she's single or not has nothing to do with me."
For a moment, Sheila didn't know what to say.
She didn't know the exact details of what had happened between Dante and Yvaine.
All she knew was that he had pursued Yvaine in the past, and then it had just fizzled out.
Since Yvaine was still single and Sheila thought highly of Dante, she had wanted to gently nudge them back together.
She really did want to play matchmaker.
But looking at Dante's reaction, it seemed he had completely moved on.
She said quickly, "Alright then. Have a safe drive back, Dante."
He gave a tight nod and walked away.
Sheila lingered in the hallway for a moment, sighing softly before heading back inside.
Dante was off the clock, but she, poor soul, was still on duty.
The moment she stepped back into the room, she found Edmond glaring at her, his face dark with fury.
She asked, "What's wrong? Can I leave now?"
"What were you talking about with my secretary?"
Naturally, she wasn't about to share her matchmaking schemes with him. "Nothing. Just seeing him out."
"Don't get any twisted ideas in your head, Sheila! Stay the hell away from my people!"
"What twisted ideas?!" she practically exploded. "Stop making baseless accusations, Edmond!"
"Oh, so we're dropping the 'Mr. Halley' now?"
She was so enraged she was practically speechless.
She truly had no idea this man possessed such an unparalleled ability to infuriate her.
Back then... back then, he had been so tender, so doting.
Just goes to show, every scumbag knows how to put on a good act!
Taking a deep breath, she asked through gritted teeth, "Can I leave now?"
His expression remained foul. "Are you really in that much of a rush?"
"It's almost eleven," she pointed out. "And I have to be back here first thing in the morning. I'm not made of iron, Mr. Halley. I need to sleep."
"Nobody asked you to commute back and forth."
She stared at him, utterly exasperated.
