Sheila frowned. "Mr. Halley, my social life is private. It has absolutely nothing to do with our agreement."
Edmond fell silent.
She was about to add something when her phone rang.
Checking the caller ID, she answered.
Cecil asked, "Are you heading back yet?"
Sheila felt a twinge of guilt. "I'm running some errands."
"Get home early," Cecil told her. "You don't need to come by tonight, understand?"
She nodded. "I know. Make sure you eat a good meal, and don't lose your temper with anyone."
"You're awfully bossy." Cecil chuckled. "Am I the kind of guy who loses his temper?"
"Right, right, you have the patience of a saint," she teased. "I'll come by tomorrow. Eat well, get some rest tonight, and no staying up late."
"Got it. Even Auntie was never this much of a nag."
"Are you sick of me already?"
"I wouldn't dare," Cecil replied. "Text me when you get home."
Sheila hummed in agreement before ending the call.
When she looked up, she found Edmond glaring daggers at her.
She pocketed her phone and told him, "I can't be your caregiver twenty-four hours a day. I have work this afternoon. I'm leaving now, but I'll be back tonight."
"You really are something else, Sheila."
She paused as she stood up. "Excuse me?"
"I had no idea you were so skilled at playing people."
"Mr. Halley, you can eat whatever you want, but watch what you say. Back then... you played me and I played you. We were exactly the same, so let's not cast stones. But right now, I take my relationships very seriously."
"Seriously? You mean dating Simon while flirting with Cecil on the side?"
"Cecil and I are just friends."
