"If that's true, why are you so terrified of letting me see Tilly?"
"You are... just as sharp-tongued as ever, Sheila."
Once upon a time, her sharp tongue had been one of his favorite things about her.
Edmond was born into extreme wealth and possessed unparalleled capability. Even when he was a teenager, no one dared to cross him.
Only Sheila had ever dared to push his buttons.
And perhaps she was only so bold because he had spoiled her into acting that way.
Now, this woman no longer belonged to him.
And yet, she still had the nerve to challenge him to his face.
"I'm not being sharp-tongued," she defended herself. "I'm stating facts."
"Agree to my three conditions," he stated flatly. "And don't try reverse psychology on me, it won't work. If you can't agree, the deal is off."
"Then tell me what they are so I can think about it."
He was silent for a few seconds. "I haven't thought of them yet."
"Then when will you?" she pressed. "You're flying back for the holidays, right? I won't be back until after the new year. That means I won't get to see her for a long time..."
"When I think of them, you'll know."
"And how will I know when that is?" She pulled out her phone. "Should I just text... Dante?"
His face instantly darkened. "You're going to text him?"
"How else would I find out?" she asked, holding her phone up. "If I text you directly, people might get the wrong idea and think I'm desperately trying to scheme my way back into your life."
"Perfect."
Leaving her with that single, icy word, Edmond turned and strode away.
Even his back radiated sheer hostility and rejection.
He really despises me...
Sheila stood in silence for a few minutes before finally sending Dante a message.
Yvaine had sent her Dante's contact card a while back.
That was the only reason she even had him added.
When Dante received the text, he was completely caught off guard.
Three conditions?
Would Edmond really say something like that to her?
