"Edmond!"
Sheila felt like all the air had been violently sucked from her lungs.
She spun around, her pale face now flushed deep red with absolute fury.
Edmond casually glanced up at her. "Did you forget something?"
Sheila was quite literally about to explode.
She pointed a trembling finger directly at the marks on her neck and demanded, "What is this? Tell me right now, what the hell is this!"
Edmond's eyes tracked to her neck. The corner of his eye twitched.
He looked away, completely silent.
Just the thought that he was likely married, had been openly flirting with Pippa, and had now left his disgusting marks on her skin made her flesh crawl.
"Edmond, I never realized you were this pathetic and vile!" she yelled. "How could you take advantage of me when I was completely incapacitated!"
Edmond remained silent.
"Edmond," Sheila snapped his name.
If he was the one who had crossed the line, what could she actually do about it?
If a rabid dog bit her, was she supposed to bite it back?
She sneered. "Just the thought of your mouth on me makes me sick to my stomach. You absolutely disgust me!"
She turned on her heel to leave.
"Stop right there!"
Edmond's voice cracked like a whip. He stood up and closed the distance between them with long, furious strides.
"You lost your memory of last night, so whatever nonsense you spout, I'm willing to let it slide. But don't you dare twist the facts—"
"I'm twisting the facts?" Sheila's rage reached a boiling point. She pointed at her neck again. "Who left these? Are you going to deny it was you?"
Edmond gritted his teeth. "It was me, but that was only because you..."
He recounted exactly what had transpired in that room.
How aggressive and passionate she had been.
How she had melted into his arms.
How tightly she had clung to him, refusing to let go.
And how she had the nerve to wake up acting like a terrified victim.
Listening to Edmond's cold recounting, Sheila's hazy memory violently snapped back into focus.
Flashes of the night hit her, moving from blurry fragments to HD clarity.
The memories her brain had desperately tried to suppress were now vivid.
Last night... she had been the one throwing herself at Edmond.
