She said, "I'll eat by myself in a minute."
But Tilly wasn't happy with that. She just went quiet, staring at Sheila with those huge, beautiful eyes.
Sheila had absolutely zero resistance against her.
Left with no other option, she picked up a spare utensil, leaned over, and took a bite.
Tilly blinked her big eyes. "Let Daddy feed you!"
Despite her age, she already knew how to feed herself.
But adults loved being pampered, let alone children.
Being pampered was always more comfortable than doing things yourself.
The little girl just wanted her favorite person to enjoy the same luxury.
Thinking for a second, she added, "Daddy is great at feeding!"
Sheila thought to herself, *I knew how good your dad was at feeding way before you did.*
Two adults with a tangled history of love and heartbreak were masking all their tension for the sake of a child.
Maintaining a perfect illusion of peace.
Edmond offered the spoon toward his daughter's mouth. "Ms. Jensen had her bite, now it's your turn."
He adamantly stuck to calling her "Ms. Jensen."
Using her first name would just make things too confusing.
Tilly kept her mouth clamped shut and shook her head.
Edmond's expression darkened, and his tone dropped. "Tilly, open up."
Tilly had never been yelled at by him before. Scared, she immediately buried her face in Sheila's chest.
Sheila instantly went into protective mode. "Why are you yelling at her? If you don't want to feed her, I will!"
Edmond's voice grew even colder. "She's my daughter."
Sheila was infuriated but couldn't find a single word to argue back.
It was a fact she couldn't change.
No matter how much she loved Tilly, she couldn't override blood ties.
She could only softly coax the little girl. "Be a good girl, Tilly. Eat up, and I'll play games with you."
She had planned on making sure Tilly ate, letting the IV finish, and then slipping out.
