She stood up with Tilly, intending to lay her back on the hospital bed.
But she had completely overlooked one crucial detail.
She had been holding Tilly for a long time, and her posture had been awkwardly twisted just to keep her distance from Edmond.
That caused her leg to fall completely asleep.
The moment she tried to stand, her leg gave out, and she practically tackled Edmond.
Before Edmond could even push his chair back, his lap was suddenly full.
Two girls, one big and one small, had crashed right into his embrace.
His body reacted faster than his brain could even process, his arms immediately locking around her.
Sheila's collapse knocked into the table.
The clatter of utensils completely drowned out the sound of a knock at the door.
Dante Spencer pushed the door open.
Only to find Edmond sitting there, cradling... Sheila in his arms.
From his angle, Tilly was completely hidden.
The sheer shock of the scene left him paralyzed in the doorway.
Edmond's hands were wrapped securely around Sheila's waist.
Back in the day, every inch of Sheila had been his obsession.
And now, her slender, soft waist was right back in his hands.
Almost subconsciously, he pulled her tighter against him.
Even through the fabric of her clothes, his hands felt scorchingly hot.
Dante was absolutely dumbfounded. It took him a long moment to recover before he stammered, "I—I'm sorry... please, continue..."
With that, he practically sprinted away.
Only then did Edmond realize Dante had walked in.
Continue...
Continue what?
What on earth was he imagining?
Edmond felt a mix of annoyance and sheer amusement.
He couldn't resist remarking, "Haven't you sat long enough, Ms. Jensen?"
