Edmond quickly realized she was throwing his own words from the elevator right back at him.
Two exact words.
How had Sheila responded back then?
She had said: Just average.
Then Edmond told her to book an appointment with an eye doctor because her taste in men was terrible.
Edmond crossed his legs and casually replied, "Just average."
If she was allowed to be petty, why couldn't he return the favor?
Sheila looked away. "Then Mr. Halley should book an appointment with an eye doctor too."
The moment the words left her mouth, she regretted them.
Why was she wasting her breath on him?
Edmond stared at her. "You have a great memory, Ms. Jensen. Remembering every word I say."
Sheila shot back, "I only remember things I either really like, or really hate. Mr. Halley... should have some self-awareness, right?"
Edmond could hear the pure disgust in her tone.
When she said hate, it wasn't just an exaggeration.
She genuinely despised him.
Edmond locked eyes with her. "That's exactly what I wanted to express."
Sheila gestured toward the door. "Since we're sick of the sight of each other, shouldn't you be leaving?"
Edmond stood up. "If I had known this was your office, I wouldn't have stepped foot in here even if invited."
With that, he strode out.
Sheila stood up, marched to the door with gritted teeth, and slammed it shut.
Edmond paused mid-step.
Not far away, Marcus Wagner spotted him and hurried over. "Mr. Halley, I finally found you..."
After Edmond left, Sheila went back to her research.
A few minutes later, she pinched the bridge of her nose and squeezed her eyes shut.
Edmond Halley is a jerk, Edmond Halley is a jerk, Edmond Halley is a jerk...
Taking a deep breath, she forced her attention back to the files.
At eleven-thirty, Simon Sinclair knocked and walked in. "Let's go grab lunch."
