Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 27

It was also incredibly obvious that Sheila genuinely adored Tilly, too.

As long as Sheila wasn't some stranger with an unknown background trying to exploit them, everything else was perfectly fine.

Witnessing such pure, innocent kindness was truly heartwarming.

During lunch, Laura noticed that Sheila wasn't exactly experienced with taking care of children.

But she fed Tilly with immense care and gentleness.

Tilly picked up her own fork, grabbed a piece of beef, and held it up to Sheila's mouth. "Sheila, eat!"

Sheila was very careful not to touch the fork with her lips as she took the beef into her mouth.

Laura watched, thoroughly satisfied.

After lunch, Sheila took Tilly to do some arts and crafts.

Being almost fifty, Laura wasn't very familiar with the modern trends young people enjoyed.

But seeing Sheila playing with Tilly, it was clear the little girl was having the time of her life.

And spending time with Tilly completely relaxed Sheila. The heavy, suffocating feeling that had plagued her all morning finally evaporated.

Around four o'clock, Laura received a phone call.

It was from Edmond.

She glanced over at Tilly, who was intensely focused on her craft with Sheila. "Okay, Tilly and I will wait for you here."

She hung up and walked over. "Sheila, Tilly's dad is coming to pick us up in a bit."

Sheila suddenly realized that the entire afternoon had vanished.

Being with Tilly felt so happy and fulfilling that time had just slipped away.

Hearing that her dad was coming to pick her up, Tilly immediately snuggled into Sheila's arms. "Wanna play with Sheila..."

She was so pretty, looking exactly like a little porcelain doll, and her sweet, milky voice melted Sheila's heart instantly.

Sheila gently coaxed her, "How about we play again next time? It's time for Tilly to go home."

Even though she was endlessly spoiled and pampered by Edmond, Tilly had a remarkably gentle temperament.

She didn't throw tantrums, roll on the floor, or cry to get her way.

She simply pushed out her little lower lip, her huge eyes welling with tears, and Sheila immediately folded.

She had originally wanted to leave early to avoid bumping into Tilly's father.
