Still You Still Me Still Falling novel Chapter 28

After Tilly left, Sheila finished up the last bits of the craft.

Because she stayed in the shop wrapping things up, it completely slipped her mind that she had left her phone with Laura.

With everything paid for and packed away, she stepped out of the store.

While waiting for a cab, she instinctively reached for her pocket, only then realizing her phone was missing.

Just as she was about to turn back inside to call her own number, a sleek luxury car slowly pulled to a stop right in front of her.

Laura had spotted her.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Laura signaled the driver to stop and turned to Edmond. "I'll hop out and hand it to her."

Edmond didn't even look up from his phone. "Alright."

Tilly hadn't noticed at first, but a casual glance out the window made her gasp in delight. "Sheila!"

Edmond instinctively looked up.

Standing right outside Laura's window was a young woman.

Laura was blocking her face, so all he could see was a black puffer jacket and a pair of white sneakers.

"Sheila, Sheila!"

Tilly scrambled over, patting the glass of the right-side window.

Edmond effortlessly scooped her back up. "Be good. You can play with her next time."

"I wanna talk to Sheila," the little girl pleaded pitifully. "Say bye-bye to Sheila!"

Edmond told the driver, "Roll down the window."

The driver rolled it down halfway.

Tilly leaned over and yelled out, "Sheila, Sheila!"

Laura handed the phone to Sheila.

Sheila smiled. "This still needs to dry completely at home. Once it does, I'll add a few more decorations and bring it to Tilly."

No sooner had the words left her mouth than she heard Tilly calling her name.

Sheila hadn't wanted to meet her parents to begin with, and the sight of the intimidating luxury car only made her more averse to the idea.

But Tilly was calling for her, so she reluctantly walked over and bent down. "I'll see you another day, Tilly."

Inside the car, Edmond hadn't planned on showing his face, but hearing that voice sent a jolt through his heart.

Sheila?
