Sheila thanked her, stepped into the elevator, and soon arrived at the top floor.

Dante was already waiting by the elevator doors.

Sheila gave him a polite nod. "Mr. Spencer."

Dante ran the entire secretariat, functioning essentially as a department director, making him Edmond's right-hand man.

He extended an arm. "Right this way."

He led Sheila into a slightly smaller conference room. Once they sat down, someone quickly brought in coffee.

As the assistant turned to leave, Dante instructed, "Leave the door open."

Once they were alone, he finally spoke.

"It's the flavor you used to like," Dante gestured for her to try it. "Please."

It wasn't until Sheila and Edmond made their relationship official that she found out he was the CEO of Vantage Group.

She had even been to his office.

She didn't expect Dante to still remember her coffee preference.

She had to admit, there was a reason he had climbed to such a high position.

But...

She looked at him flatly. "I'm sorry, I don't drink coffee anymore."

Dante blinked in surprise. "I can have them bring you something else..."

"There's no need," Sheila said, having no intention of staying long. "I'll leave as soon as I've said what I came to say."

"Go ahead."

"Yvaine contacted you earlier, but I still wanted to come and ask in person." Sheila carefully weighed her words before speaking. "I just want to know if Edmond's investment in our project involves any personal feelings."

"You're overthinking it."

The icy four-word response came from the doorway.

Dante immediately stood up. "Mr. Halley."

Sitting with her back to the door, Sheila's spine stiffened instantly.

She didn't want to see Edmond.

Her emotional scar might have been violently carved out to heal, but it was still raw and bleeding.

Edmond shot Dante a look. "Do you have the tech company's proposal?"

Dante quickly replied, "I'll go find it right now."
