"Not at all, we just got here early." Clarence gestured for her to sit next to him. "Let me introduce you. This is a very good friend of mine, practically a brother. You can just call him Mr. Ladd."

Lanny Ladd looked to be in his fifties, carrying a bit of extra weight and exuding a very genial aura.

Sheila greeted him respectfully. "Hello, Mr. Ladd."

Lanny laughed heartily. "Clarence has always told me how incredibly capable you are, Sheila. Meeting you today, I'd say he was being too modest. I've never met such an outstanding young woman before!"

Clarence chimed in, "She's my wife's niece, but I've always treated her like my own daughter. Our Sheila has always been brilliant."
