Even when he was drunk, he only tried to coax her back so he could trample on her properly later, right?
Sheila said, "I get it. So what now? Is it really bad?"
"You're underestimating me," Cecil said. "We used to stay in our own lanes, but Edmond threw the first punch. In doing so, he's cutting off his nose to spite his face."
"So what's he trying to prove?"
"He wants to drain my resources and mess with my head," Cecil explained. "But most importantly, he wants to drive a wedge between us."
"Will it work?"
"Sheila, if we were actually dating, it absolutely would," Cecil said. "Think about it. If the ex-boyfriend starts causing chaos, wouldn't the current boyfriend get insanely jealous?"
Sheila put herself in that scenario and completely understood.
But she and Cecil weren't in that kind of relationship at all.
So Edmond was doing all this for absolutely nothing.
Sheila thought he was acting completely deranged.
Doing something so maliciously destructive to both of them, all for the sake of his so-called pride?
Sheila asked, "So, how much is he losing, and how much are you losing?"
"A multi-billion dollar project," Cecil replied calmly. "I've taken a hit to some initial startup capital. As for him... he's easily down tens of millions."
Total psychopath!
She truly could never understand how rich people operated.
Sheila frowned. "Cecil, I'm so sorry..."
"Stop right there!" Cecil interrupted. "I treat you like my own sister, and you're apologizing to me? Are we really doing this formal nonsense?"
She understood his point, but they were talking about real, hard cash, not Monopoly money.
Sheila pressed, "Is there any way to recover the losses?"
"He stole my project, but our family has always dominated this industry. What is there to recover?"
"Unless he... drops the project entirely."
