Tilly pouted, let out a soft huff, and shot back, "Then you're a big munchkin!"
No one had ever actually explained what a 'munchkin' meant to her, but it certainly didn't sound like a compliment.
After her comeback, Tilly turned to Sheila with a pitiful expression. "Sheila, the mister is bullying me!"
"You little brat, you even know how to tattle!"
Cecil reached over and lightly tugged at her hair.
Tilly's hair was so fine and soft that it instantly slipped right through his fingers.
Tilly clutched her head. "Mean mister!"
Sheila quickly intervened. "What are you doing? Why are you picking on a child?"
"Just messing around." Cecil grinned. "If I'm the mean mister, then she's a little menace."
As soon as the words left his mouth, he caught himself. "Wait, if I'm the mean mister, then my future kid would be the little menace... No, wait, why am I the mean one here?"
Sheila couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Tilly was completely confused by the logic, but seeing Sheila laugh made her burst into a fit of adorable giggles too.
No matter how much bad blood Cecil had with Edmond, he wasn't about to take it out on a three-year-old.
He forced his face into a stern scowl. "What's so funny?"
Unfortunately for him, neither Sheila nor Tilly was intimidated.
After they finished breakfast, a colleague came by needing Sheila for something urgent.
With no other choice, she gently placed Tilly next to Cecil. "Cecil, watch her for a second. I'll be back in just a few minutes."
Cecil threw his hands up in sheer panic. "No, no, take her with you—"
Without time to argue, Sheila leaned down, pressed a kiss to Tilly's cheek, and hurried off.
Cecil was left staring wide-eyed at the little kid.
The little girl's big, bright eyes stared right back at him, radiating the pure, unclouded innocence unique to a child's world.
"What are you looking at?" Cecil grumbled defensively.
Tilly, who had been sitting beside him, suddenly stood up on the sofa.
She was so tiny that even standing on the cushions, she still wasn't taller than a seated Cecil.
