Chapter 21 

Felicia took charge of dinner, eager to impress everyone. She had been busy showcasing her skills over the past few days. 

Not for any other reason but to create a contrast with Melanie. Felicia was determined to make the Grayson family gradually dislike Melanie, hoping they would eventually band together to drive her away. 

Seeing Felicia bustling off to cook, Melanie couldn’t help but chuckle; it was her first time witnessing someone so excited about doing chores. It seemed Felicia was quite motivated, 

During dinner, Edward spoke up directly. “Dad, Mom, I plan to let Melanie open a small shop nearby to run a business.” 

The statement stunned the entire family. 

Sophie was the first to react. “You want her to become a street vendor?” 

Luca frowned slightly. They didn’t lack money, and with Melanie being pregnant, sending her out to sell things seemed unnecessary and even reckless. 

Besides, in this day and age, who would choose to be a street verdor? It was looked down upon; a stable job was far more respectable. 

“That’s ridiculous. I won’t interfere with other matters, but this is absolutely not happening. Melanie is pregnant with twins; her top priority should be taking care of herself. Besides, what’s so great about being a street vendor?

Melanie quietly ate her dinner, cheering Edward on in her heart. 

“That’s true, but we can’t let Melanie overexert herself.” 

Melanie quickly interjected to clarity her stance. “It won’t be too hard; it’s good to have something to do.” 

Edward cast a sidelong glance at Melanie, deliberately putting on a look of disdain. “Dad, everyone in our family has their own responsibilities. 

“Nellie is starting school soon and won’t need anyone to watch over her. Even though Melanie is pregnant now, she’s only three months along and can still move around. 

“It’s not right for her to just sit at home all the time. I think she should get some experience outside. A good job might not be available for her right now, but running a small business is manageable. She can’t just stay at home forever.” 

With that, Edward’s words made Sophie and Felicia chuckle. 

They had caught on, Edward seemed to think Melanie was useless. It made sense–with her lack of education and skills, she could only rely on her pregnancy. A capable man like Edward naturally wouldn’t be satisfied, so now he wanted to send her off to work 

As for running a shop, the outcome was predictable–it would surely fail within a few days. Did she really think it would be easy to run a business? She could barely 

read.
