No More Mrs. Forgotten novel Chapter 25

Hearing that, Josiah actually laughed. Pulling the cigarette from his mouth, he pinched it between his fingers and leaned heavily against the car door. Bending down to lock eyes with York, his expression turned lethally serious. "Did she sign a bill of sale? She's your wife, not your indentured servant. She doesn't belong to you."

The words hit York like a physical blow.

It dawned on him that he had never actually considered this.

The reality that Sharon could just... leave.

Thinking about the two times she had demanded a divorce recently, a sudden, suffocating wave of irritation crashed over him.

He fell completely silent.

Josiah pointed a finger directly at York, his tone grave. "You're my brother, but Sharon is my family, too. So you'd better reel it in and know when to stop. Don't push this until it's ugly and completely beyond repair."

York stared him down. "Is Mr. Schuyler—excuse me, the Crown Prince—threatening me?"

"A threat?" Josiah's lips curled. It was impossible to tell if he was mocking him or simply stating a fact.

York's impossibly handsome face darkened further.

Josiah continued. "It's not a threat. It's a reality check. For a brilliant, up-and-coming titan of industry and a married man, your grasp of marital rights is shockingly pathetic."

They didn't call Josiah venomous for nothing. He could casually drop a sentence that completely paralyzed his opponent.

Before York could even formulate a comeback, Josiah drove the final nail in.

"So get this through your head," Josiah said. "Sharon can walk away anytime she wants, and she can divorce you whenever she pleases. Who in their right mind wants to spend their entire life choking down your absolute garbage?"

York's face instantly drained of color, turning a furious, sickly shade of pale.

Standing nearby, Adele flashed a triumphant grin. "Exactly!"

For some unexplainable reason, Sharon's nose stung, and her eyes burned.

Josiah's brutal takedown... it sounded like he was tearing into York, but was he actually talking directly to her?

Was he trying to scold her, to wake her up from this pathetic delusion?

There was no shouting, no screaming, but the tension was explosive, a razor's edge away from snapping.

Realizing he had lost the verbal battle, York turned to Sharon, who had remained perfectly silent, and dumped the ultimatum onto her. "Are you getting in his car?"

Her prolonged silence had pushed York to the brink of a dark, crushing fury. It felt like a boulder was sitting directly on his chest.

She hadn't defended him, nor had she rejected Josiah's aggressive protection.

York and Josiah weren't just childhood friends; they were blood.

They were distant cousins. York's mother, Libby, and Josiah's mother were cousins.

Things had escalated to a total standstill, yet Sharon was just sitting there like a spectator in her own life.

Being directly called out meant Sharon could no longer sit out the crossfire.

She furrowed her brows, her fingers curling tight. Looking at Josiah, she finally made a call. "You guys go ahead and get in your car."
