No More Mrs. Forgotten novel Chapter 39

The scene had escalated into an absolute trainwreck.

Sharon stood exactly where she was, her hands and feet entirely devoid of warmth, just watching.

Seeing her own husband holding another woman, his gaze filled with frantic concern for her.

This was the man she had loved and adored for seven or eight years, the man she shared a bed with. Hah.

Lamont marched forward, intentionally lowering his voice. "York, what the hell are you doing? Give her to me!"

Reaching out to take Emeline from him, Lamont gritted his teeth and added darkly, "Your wife is standing right over there!"

Hearing this, York seemed momentarily stunned.

He lifted his eyes and looked directly at Sharon.

Sharon happened to be looking right back. She felt completely composed, yet for some unexplainable reason, her eyes were brimming with tears.

A second later, York averted his gaze, looking entirely unfazed and completely unmoved.

When Lamont tried to physically pull Emeline from his arms, York instinctively stepped back, barking, "Call the ambulance."

Lamont looked ready to punch him. "Someone already called it! Hand her over!"

While the two men were deadlocked, Paula rushed up. She looked like she had just seen a ghost, completely unhinged with terror. "Emeline, are you alright? Hurry, the ambulance! My grandchild, my grandchild!"

The Fletcher family was acting like ants on a hot pan, utterly frantic and terrified out of their minds, deathly afraid that something might happen to Emeline.

The baby in her belly was the one and only piece of Caleb left in this entire world...

If they lost the baby... then... he would truly be gone forever!

There would never be another chance!

Never again... what an indescribably cruel reality.

The situation had completely devolved. Bystanders had no idea whether they should be pitying Sharon, pitying Emeline, or... pitying both of them.

Just as Lamont was about to forcefully pry Emeline away, her eyes fluttered open.

The moment she woke up, a collective sigh of relief washed over the crowd.

York asked first, "Are you okay? Where does it hurt?"

Paula, who had been about to bombard her with frantic questions, immediately choked on her words.

She wasn't a saint. She didn't possess the magical ability to just stop loving someone the exact second she decided to.

Erasing someone she had been utterly obsessed with since she was a teenager was going to take some time.

But for now, the more it hurt, the better! The deeper the agony, the better!

If she stayed in pain long enough... eventually, she would tear him out of her heart completely.

Lamont suddenly interrupted the intimate tension. Firm but gentle, he looked at Emeline. "Since you're okay, stand up. Or let your brother carry you."

With that, he held out his hands.

To everyone's shock, Emeline instinctively wrapped her arms around York's neck.

York froze for a second.

Sharon's tears silently fell. The throbbing ache in her lower abdomen intensified violently, accompanied by a sharp, stabbing pain.

She managed a bitter, hollow smile. Just hours ago, York had warned her not to strip him of his dignity.

But right now, he was taking her dignity, tossing it onto the pavement, and grinding it into absolute dust.
