No More Mrs. Forgotten novel Chapter 15

"Are you not feeling well? Is it your stomach?" he asked.

Sharon's fingers twitched slightly, and she turned to look at him.

Was he... caring about her?

Was he really... showing concern?

Her eyes were still red and brimming with unshed tears. York frowned slightly, adding, "Your mother mentioned it. She said you were nauseous and throwing up. Either you're pregnant, or it's a stomach bug."

Sharon knew it. When he had so confidently declared she was "pregnant" earlier, he had just been fishing for the truth. So Hayley must have only been guessing.

Sharon didn't reply. She lowered her eyes, taking a small sip of soup before picking up her silverware to start eating.

Unexpectedly, York spoke again. "If your stomach is upset, take some medicine. If it doesn't get better, have the doctor come over."

Wanda immediately brightened up. "We have stomach medicine in the house. I'll go get it right now!"

Wanda was convinced this was proof that York cared about Sharon and was worried for her.

For a fleeting second, even Sharon felt a daze of hope. But right now, the prospect of having to take medicine made her extremely anxious.

Before she could even open her mouth to refuse, Wanda had already scurried off.

Sharon turned to York, just about to tell him she wasn't going to take any pills, when he spoke again. "Don't put off taking your medicine when you're sick. What if it delays us picking up Emeline and Caleb tomorrow?"

Sharon froze, the silverware in her hand nearly slipping onto the table.

So that was it. It wasn't concern at all!

To hell with his concern!

To hell with him!

He was just terrified that her being sick would ruin his plans to go fetch his precious golden girl tomorrow!

Or worse, did he think she was faking an illness just to throw a tantrum and get out of bringing Emeline home?

An uncontrollable, blazing inferno of rage erupted in Sharon's chest. She was completely ignited, utterly beyond the point of restraint.

With that, she quickly followed him.

York sat down on the sofa in the living room and pulled open a drawer on the table to grab his cigarettes.

Sharon walked right up to him. "York, I have one more question for you."

York frowned. Pausing with his hand on the cigarette pack, he looked up at her. "What else could you possibly have to ask? Why do you have so many damn questions? Is this fun for you, Sharon?"

Sharon's heart trembled with pain. She opened her mouth to speak.

But before she could get a word out, York continued, "Let me make this perfectly clear to you. Even if the sky falls down, I am bringing Emeline into this house to take care of her and support her. I already told you, this isn't a negotiation. I am informing you."

"A million questions won't change a thing! No one can change my decision! It's what I owe her! You owe her too, and you owe Caleb! So, I honestly have no idea why you're throwing this massive tantrum or acting like a lunatic!"

Having said his piece, his temper boiled over, and he viciously slammed the cigarette pack onto the glass table. "What exactly do you want?!"

To be completely honest, Sharon was a little scared.
