No More Mrs. Forgotten novel Chapter 14

Sharon took a deep breath, the tears on her face feeling like ice.

She looked up at the house. From the yard, the lights inside were bright and inviting, radiating warmth. But that golden glow couldn't thaw her out; instead, it only made her feel colder.

This house was her and York's marital home—a massive, luxurious, standalone garden estate. She had poured her heart and soul into designing and decorating every single detail, infusing it all with her boundless love for York.

But standing here now, she felt like an absolute joke! Everything she had ever given meant nothing compared to the name Emeline!

Sharon's heart ached with a chilling emptiness. Standing out in the yard, the temperature was dropping, and the biting gusts of wind made her violently shiver. She had been fine inside the heated car earlier, but now her nose was completely red from the freezing air.

York had long since gone into the main house, leaving her out here entirely alone. In truth, it had probably never crossed his mind to take her hand and walk inside together. She had forced everything into existence; it had always been unrequited on her part.

Sharon reached down, gently resting a hand over her stomach.

Just then, a figure hurried out of the main house, rushing straight toward her.

Sharon watched through tear-blurred eyes. It was Wanda, their housekeeper, and she was carrying a coat in her hands.

It was York's coat—large, heavy, and flawlessly tailored from high-end fabric.

Wanda rushed over, her face full of concern. "Ma'am, please put this on. It's freezing out here."

She helped drape the heavy coat over Sharon's shoulders, wrapping it snugly around her. The familiar scent of York drifted up from the fabric. It was the exact coat he had been wearing just moments ago.

Sharon looked at Wanda.

"Mr. Fordham asked me to bring this to you," Wanda explained. "He was worried you'd catch a cold."

Sharon froze, a chaotic mix of emotions swirling inside her.

By the time she walked into the main house, York was already seated in the dining room. He didn't pick up his silverware until she arrived.

"Sit down, ma'am," Wanda urged. "Have a bowl of hot soup to warm up first."

Wanda had been sent over from the main estate by Libby specifically to look after Sharon. As one of her most trusted longtime employees, Wanda naturally shared Libby's allegiance and was entirely on Sharon's side.

Wanda ladled a bowl of soup, placed it gently beside Sharon's hand, and said warmly, "Drink it slowly. Careful, it's hot."

Thanks to Wanda's presence, the crushing weight in Sharon's chest eased slightly.

Meanwhile, York said nothing, silently eating his meal with an air of elegant, untouchable grace.

As Sharon picked up her bowl, York suddenly broke the silence.
