I Loved You in the Dark Until Someone Loved Me in the Light novel Chapter 15

The sky was thick with dark clouds, looming heavily as if it were about to downpour.

First thing in the morning when Gillian arrived for work, she saw York dropping Hailey off again.

She had no idea how York had managed to suppress the medication error from the other day, but the hospital had been completely quiet about it. Based on Hailey's carefree demeanor, it didn't look like she was facing any disciplinary action whatsoever.

Gillian's lips curled into a mocking smirk. Her husband truly held the world in the palm of his hand. He pampered his mistress to the absolute extreme, easily sweeping such a catastrophic disaster under the rug for her.

"Gillian, I'm so sorry about what happened the other day. You're not mad at me, are you?" Hailey asked naturally, flashing a bright smile as soon as she saw her.

Gillian thought to herself that if she were the type to get angry over Hailey, she would have dropped dead from a heart attack long ago.

"You haven't done anything to me. The person you should be apologizing to is that pregnant mother."

Hailey froze, completely stunned.

Gillian didn't wait for a response, turning around and walking away, leaving behind only a cold, distant silhouette.

She was breathtakingly beautiful, possessing a face that was both delicate and fiercely striking—a woman who demanded attention the moment she walked into a room. Yet, she always wore an icy expression that kept people at a distance. Hearing those sharp words only made Hailey feel incredibly wronged.

She hadn't done it on purpose.

Hailey bit her lip. "York, am I completely useless? I'm just so clumsy. Plus, being pregnant makes me so dizzy. If it wasn't for Gillian, that patient and her baby would have..."

"Even if she hadn't been there, I would have fixed it for you," York comforted her gently. "Don't dwell on things like this. I'll pick you up tonight and we'll go to the movies. Stop looking so sad."

Gillian could hear their conversation fading as she walked further down the hall.

Once upon a time, she had desperately hoped to go to the movies with York. She used to harbor those silly, romantic daydreams, wanting to be just like the couples on television.

But he had always claimed he was too busy with work and had never agreed, not even once. A movie took two hours, and he always told her his time was too valuable. She wasn't worth it.
